Oh, heck. I feel so silly, but I have a question for y'all seasoned Orlando-goers...

We're off on the 26th April, and as part of the stuff we have planned, we are going to spend a few nights in Pleasure Island and Citywalk.

Thing is, I'm wanting to buy some nice new boots (sort of Chelsea boots) before I go...got the 'running around the theme parks' trainers already...but the boots'll do grand for some evenings out. The boots I want (Brunstone ones) have inner steel-toes caps...how strict are security-type people on dress-codes? I have this dread that they'll use their x-ray vision to see through my steel-toed shoes (although they're externally just Chelsea boots) and send me packing.

See...told you it was silly.

I'm running the London Marathon in 2 weeks and feeling a tad highly strung.:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Anyway...just thought I'd ask!

Alton,

Good luck with the marathon,it wears me out watching it from the sofa!

I'm not sure about the boots though:confused: If you are taking them over in your luggage it would possibly be opened and checked if the steel showed up on the scans? I can't see a problem with wearing them out on the eveings though:eek:

Can see a problem with you wearing them out in the evenings :)

BIG Good Luck for the Marathon :cool1:

Will you be wearing them for travelling or putting them in your luggage?

If you are wearing them you will probably have to put them throught the scanner - so you can just say to the attendant that they have steel toecaps. People always put metal things (belts etc) in the trays

If they are in the luggage I should think they'll have a look.

Why not ask your airline?

PS Won't it be a bit hot for boots??

...thanx for the reply and marathon wishes everyone...

Kaylee...did you say that there WOULD or WOULDN'T be a prob wearing these boots out on an evening? All theyare are normal black Chelsea boots but the inside of the toe-box is reinforced. Nothing outwardly noticeable and purely to keep the shoe looking nicer for longer...

Alton :)

Good luck with the FLM Alton. I'm feeling OK at the moment as our club runners taper for it they finally meet me on my way up in training for the Plymouth Half!

I was going to play a trick on them on April the 1st. Emailing a change of route (for security purposes) through Westmenster Abbey!...decided agaisnt it as ours are pretty psyched up too at the mo and I though I might end up 6 feet under!

Have a good one...(and enjoy the taper ;)

Thanx Kes and Kay....

Kes...read your reports, great to hear to had such a great time. Not quite climbing the walls yet but on the way!

Good luck in Plymouth...I'm running for the British Lung Foundation with a bright luminous yellow (tasty:rolleyes: ) vest on and shorts wiv lots of tiny Union Jacks on (worn these for every big race I've done, FLM will be number 10)...so I'll wave to you all if I have the energy.

So the PI and UCW clubs over there don't have all-body metal detectors then? (it wouldn't surprise me:p )...
