I've noticed that on every messageboard I've ever seen, there are always loads of threads about "this company is rubbish/screwed me out of lots of money/cuased me to spend hours on the phone to the complaints department" etc, but there's barely ever any that are about companies that have done a good job. So here's one such thread!
I recently ordered something off QVC for the first time. This week I had to call their customer service line to check something (a problem - but I'd like to point out it wasn't their fault.) With a big company like this I was fully expecting to spend 10 minutes pressing various numbers to get through their call centre, then 10 minutes on hold being told how valued my call was before being transferred to India and not actually finding out the info I needed. This couldn't have been further from what happened.
The phone rang about 3 times before being picked up by a human (WOW!) He was English, very well spoken and listened to my query before pulling up my details on the computer. He found the info I needed in seconds and told me all everything I needed to know. Throughout the entire call he was polite, friendly and helpful and never once sounded bored or like I was wasting his time with stupid questions. I was done within 2 minutes! I'm actually thinking of writing to them to congratulate them on their business practices.
