While at work, I just decided out of the blue to quickly log into member services and see if there was a BLT lake view studio available for the last day of my Easter trip. Sure enough it showed up available. I was in total shock. I must have checked the date 3 times to make sure I didn't enter it incorrectly. When I realized it was correct, I was frantic as to what to do. Unfortunately, I couldn't call member services at that moment, so I had to think. Do I wait and see if my wait list comes through or do I on the spot cancel my last day (which was Theme park view) and plug in the new ressie?
Well, I quickly cancelled my last day and prayed that the ressie was still available. It was. Yay!!! I am so happy that I followed my instincts. Of course, I cancelled my waitlist, so hopefully someone else got their wish.:goodvibes:pixiedust::banana:

Score! I would've been nervous, too. I can't count how many ressies I've lost trying to cancel-and-rebook, only to have the available room disappear when I searched again. :(

Congrats!

Thank you. I can only imagine. I don't think it will be something I will ever do again.

Explain to me why the WL sit when the room being WL is available? I thought that was the point of the WL. Lately I've read on 2 other forums that people have found their availability but their WL was still active and not filled.

I don't get it :confused3 I know the WL does work because I've used it successfully in the past.

This just happened to me, not even 15 minutes ago...

I was waitlisted for a std 1br at BWV for December for one night, and this morning, I went on and shure as shooting...it was available.

I had been checking all morning & it wasn't available, then I stepped away and came back, and was stunned to see it.

I really wish I knew why they weren't being picked up to fill the waitlist :confused3

Is it possible to book the "new" room and then cancel the "old" room? Or do you have to cancel first and then book?

Congrats on getting the room you were hoping for! :cheer2:

You can. The only problem is that I only had 7 points available from the current use year and in order for me to have booked before canceling the previous ressie, was by borrowing from next year's points which I didn't want to do.

Did you book it when you saw it?

Absolutely...

I got a great deal on air, so if the waitlist had never come through, I would have just booked at night at SSR or CBR, but I really didn't want to have to move. I'm tickled that it was available, but the waitlist thing has me a bit perplexed ;)

I'm guessing from all the accounts of folks seeing availability, that the filling of the waitlist is done as a batch process at a certain time. So if you happen to get on and see it available, you can grab it before the batch run happens.
