A quiet room at AKL?

Can anyone make any suggestions as to quiet rooms at AKL. We are staying here for a few days in October and my husband needs to get a lot of rest on a particular night, then get up very early in the morning for a triathlon and rest after it is done.

I know nothing is promised but I'd like to know if anyone has any experience at AKL with an especially quiet room or an especially noisy room.

I thought maybe at the end of a hallway or something.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I just posted below about how horribly noisy the AKL was during our 2-night stay this past week. We could hear toilets flushing like crazy, people actually pottying above us (SO GROSS to listen to!), and EVERYTHING from the adjoining rooms (we moved after the first night because our 1st neighbors were so loud). This hotel has no soundproofing. I've read that before on these boards, but I didn't believe it until I stayed there myself. I wouldn't risk staying there if your DH needs to be assured of a good night's sleep before a triathalon. This is a beautiful hotel. I wonder why they skimped so much on the soundproofing We've never had this particular problem at any other Disney hotels. You should definitely not be able to hear toilets flushing and people using the toilet in any hotel. This is just disgusting! Sorry for the rant. I hope that this saves you and your DH from having a wakeful night when you need rest.

It is the same way at Wl-you can hear every toilet flush, etc.

I don't know why they didn't do a little more soundproofing when they built these hotels.

I guess my DH will probably stay in Clermont that night and we will stay at AKL but I don't want to hear toilets flushing and people going to the bathroom again-we heard enough of that at WL in October.

We were on the 4th floor & didn't hear any bathroom sounds. We had neighbors on both sides but didn't hear much from them. I once also stayed on the 2nd floor and heard something strange & frequent. Now I think it was flushing

Can he sleep with earplugs? It's difficult to get used to, but I never travel without them. I've very sensitive to noise, and you can't always control your surroundings, so I've tried to adapt.

Just an FYI--There really aren't any hotels up in Cleremont by the Triathalon Center. The closest would probably be the Holiday Inn out in Ocoee, but I'm not sure I would reccomend that place.

There is a place in Clermont that is condos I think and they are available for rent-I think it's called Summerbay Resort or something. It actually looks kind of nice-pool and everything.

It took DH almost an hour to go from WL to Clermont last October-way too long.

One thing I've noticed is that people on lower floors tend to hear more of the toilet flushing, etc.-same at WL so if we are on 5 or 6 in concierge maybe it won't be such a problem even though it's a little high up for me.

I guess you must be from Florida if you know about the hotel situation in Clermont-I can't see where you're from while I'm typing this.

No, we live in NJ, but have been looking to build a home in Clermont for a couple years now, so know the area well. Just an FYI, Summerbay has a four night minimum. Form AKL to the training center is about a half hour drive, as low as 20-25 minutes with no traffic. It's only about 15 miles from AKL.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that Summerbay had a 4 night minimum. I guess if we all wanted to stay there for 4 nights it might work out. It actually looks rather charming. Nice pool and other things. They are going to send me a brochure.

I guess Clermont is a pretty nice place to build a house. We heard that it is becoming a very popular place to move to. My DH would do just about anything to live in Clermont-his company has an opening in Leesburg and I said "Close enough-let's go".

I guess we'll figure out what will work best. I just don't want to check-in to AKL and get a really noisy room.

Maybe you could request a room "at the very end, as far from teh elevators as possible." and explain why.

Just as an FYI, the quietest rooms we've ever had at WDW were standard view 1 BR/2BR villas at BWV.

We stayed her for 12 nights in December and found it to be the quietest hotel we had ever stayed in on Disney property!!! Go figure!

Can't recall room number...but it was a pool view...down the first hall on the right as you enter the hotel...about half way down on the left. Never heard a thing the whole stay and it was very busy there too!

back in December we stayed on the 5th floor (concierge) at the AKL and didn't have a problem with noise really. I do recall hearing some noise but I think it was only when I was actually in the bathroom. Either way it wasn't bad at all. Just stayed with mom at the AS Music and boy was THAT noisy. Definitely heard the bathroom flushing.

I've also stayed at Riverside and had a lovely family next to me who's kids would scream inside and outside my window. Lovely people left their radio blaring the morning they checked-out.

The resort is lovely and I really found it to be peaceful. The worst night there was our first and that was thanks to a day of unending rain or should I say downpours I hope you have enjoy yourself if you go with this resort. It was really a treat to see the animals and the place was quiet for me. I can't wait to go back.

If you find yourself next to a noisy group, definitely ask to move.

I also stayed on the fifth floor, way out at the end, not concierge, #5138. It was very quiet out there.

I have never found the AKL to be noisy.

Our room was towards the end of the Kudu Trail. So very quiet you could hear a pin drop.

We kept remarking on how quiet the room was and we didn't hear anyone's else bathroom.

I have been 3 times to All Stars, upper floor, lower floor, spring, winter, summer. I have never heard any toilets flush, no kids screaming, no adults arguing. I guess I have been lucky. Two times movies (Mighty Ducks and Herbie) and one time Music (sorry, can't remember the building). I guess it's luck of the draw. Actually, I have never heard any noises out of the normal once in a while people passing by my door at any resort there.

Good luck finding a quiet place.

just in case... it wasn't THAT bad. just that i noticed it. not like it kept me up at night. you know, i haven't stayed in a non-disney hotel in so long i don't even know if it's common or not to hear those kinds of noises *lol*

i'm sure now that mom has dragged me there she'll get me there again. if it was just me and hubby or just me *lol* i'd do the AKL but mom just doesn't care about the hotel so cheaper is better. and shhhh don't tell her but considering how little time we did spend there this last trip it wasn't that bad just wish the all star rooms were larger. we tried to fit 3 women in there and yikes! bags everywhere.

on the flip side it was just me and hubby at the AKL and i felt cramped. not sure why they gave us a room with bunks, regular bed and daybed. and for those of you adults who think about sleeping on those bunks...watch your head! OUCH! *lol* my poor head *g* I did try it out and it wasn't bad sleeping though you do need to remember to duck
