Yes folks, we are planning a getaway to FL without going to any of the 4 main parks. and our kids ages 13, 9 & 7 are OK with this plan. (they have been to WDW and FW for at least 7 times, so they are not that deprived)

We will be at the fort from June 14 - 19.

We plan on hanging around at the new pool, looping around on the golf cart, riding the monorail, going to Downtown Disney, and maybe a waterpark one day. And maybe a character dinner.

This is SO not what we usually do when we come to FW, so this is a trip to do all that stuff we never have time to.

Are they still doing the games around the pool area (kick ball and bingo come to mind?)

They still have games during the day. The only game we did was bingo. They have it every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the campfire(at least that is when/where they had it in the month of May.) A few more that come to mind on our Recreation handout for May was the pool games, crafts and field day type activities.

We only had time for bingo and played on 2 different days. Each of my kids won a prize. They play 3 rounds each day and it is $1 a card.

Have a great trip!:goodvibes

sounds like a good plan,

we are staying a week @ Pop, and only going to the Magic Kingdom on the Monday we are there. My daughter is almost 3, so we will ride a few rides, have lunch at Cinderellas castle, leave, and go to the pool, go out to dinner, and then return the the MK for the fireworks that night. Thats it... other than that we are going to be at the pool every day, and exploring things other than the parks for our vacation.

OMG the shame !!!:scared1:
But you can save face if you bring a fish'n pole and a camera, :thumbsup2

We do the Fort sometimes and no parks, works for us.

We just returned last week from a 7 day trip and spent so much time running around to all the parks that we didn't do anything at the Fort. We are planning to try and return before the end of the year and not visit the parks either. Kind of like the plan above, maybe visit a water park or two (because we still have some visitations on our passes from last week), finally get to do the Chip and Dale sing-along/movie (it was rained out when we tried it last week), spend time at the pool, cart the loops, play games, etc, etc.. We were amazed at how much there was to do at the Fort that we just want to make a vacation out of it alone!

Sounds like fun, we are doing almost the same thing when we come for the 4th of July. We have a longer trip planned for October and the my mom, grandmother and my brother and his family will all be there. We will spend all the time in the parks then. Have Fun!!

We are going 6/6-6/11 and we have no plans to go to any of the parks. We often go to the Fort without doing the parks. My kids are 16,16,2 and have no problem with it at all.
There is so much to do at the Fort and Downtown Disney we don't miss the parks at all. Our plans consist of hanging at the pool, the pony ride, riding in the GC, Eating with Cindy at 1900, and maybe hitting Downtown Disney for an afternoon, and perhaps hitting one of the put put golfs.
No worries you can find plenty to do at the Fort! Have Fun!

Yes, the putt-putt courses are fun! We did Winter-Summerland and had a blast. Not expensive either, but we got an AP discount so that helped!:)

We have done the same thing you are planning a few times and really enjoyed it. Don't forget a couple of fun things we tried: the watercraft rentals and Petty. DS loves the sea raycers and DW and I usually rent a pontoon. It is so cool ride on Bay Lake and over to Seven Seas Lagoon and see MK from the water. Last Christmas I bought DS a Petty ride along. He got 3 laps with a race driver hitting speeds around 185 mph. He loved it!

There is so much to do aside from the parks that our visits are more about non park fun.;)
