A question to Southwest Flyers

I know when you get to the airport , disney picks up your luggage if your staying at the resort. But we are getting in late and I know they some times wait till the next morning to bring them to you. What I was wondering is how fast is Southwest with getting the luggage to the baggage claim area? If I pick it up my self , might I miss the disney bus to my resort?

DME stops picking up tagged luggage at 10pm. So...if you are arriving at that time, or later, do not tag your bags. You will have to get your own bags. If you do tag the bags, they will not get to you until the next morning! There is no one there to take care of them for you at the airport.
The way the system works is this....as soon as tagged bags come off the plane, they are grabbed and put aside. Then, they are put into resort appropriate sections, then loaded onto the luggage trucks in the luggage bins. They go to the various resorts, where they await disbursal to the guests.
But...as I said, DME stops this process at 10pm. BUT....the buses run all night. They do not stop running at all. So, if you take a bit of time grabbing your own bags, it won't matter as far as your bus goes.

The thing to be aware of is this...you are arriving on Side A of MCO. You will arrive on level 3. You will have to go to the main terminal, via the tram, then go down to level 2 for your bags. Then, back up to level 3, Side A, where you will cross through MCO proper and head to Side B. This sounds like a huge area, but it isn't. So, now you have to go down to level 1, past level 2 baggage claim for Side B, to ground transportation, to get to DME. For those with no luggage in hand, it's no big deal. But, if your juggling checked luggage, kids in tow as well as some carryon stuff, it can be a long way.
I just wanted you to be aware of that one thing.

Just to emphasize one point in GfT's post...

You can't miss you bus. You don't have "a" bus. Whenever people with confirmed ME reservations show up, they get put on the next bus headed to their resort.

Does anyone know if Southwest Airlines is still allowing check-in at Disney's Pop Century Resort for return trips home??

so if you take a late night flight, and don't need your luggage til morning, they will deliver for sure the next morning?
I am going with 2 DD late in evening so i know i can live with out stuff til the next day, but just want to make sure that it will not get lost! I would have called the hotel desk to hold the luggage anyways instead of middle of night delivery. How early would i expect them in the morning?

I'd love to know the answer to this as well. We arrive at 10:20 so I figured I'd have to pick up my luggage but if I can have it delivered through ME the next morning I would prefer that and put my necessities in my carry on!

No, PP said they stop picking up luggage at 10PM so if you get in at 10:20, no DME person is there picking up bags. You should not use the DME tags and go claim your luggage at the baggage carousel and take it with you. The busses still run but no one gets the bags after 10PM. I would not chance them circling the baggage carousel all night.

ok, i thought they would just hold them til the morning. Oh well, i guess i will need to get them

To answer the question as how fast Southwest loads the luggage to the the baggage pick up....for all the times we have flew into MCO. From the time we get off the plane, hit the restroom and get to baggage claim our luggage is is either out or we only had to wait 5 mins max. I have alway choosen to get our own luggage instead of using the tags for DME; and the only reason for this is I want to make sure my luggage arrives the sametime we do......lol
