Hi All!

I tried to search for the answer to this, but was unable to find anything. So I am sure that someone here can help me.

I had read in the Micket Monitor that at the end of September, for only a few days, there would be a special annual passholder pin available at MGM. I was unable to attend, but I had a friend of mine picked up this pin and a lanyard for me. Needless to say, I was thrilled.
Now for my question, I THOUGHT that I had read that this pin was complimentary to Annual Passholders. Did I read correctly? Also, for anyone who got this pin then, did the lanyard come complimentary with the pin? If this friend of mine PAID for these items, I certainly want to reimburse him for them.
The reason that I ask this is because I see in this months Mickey Moniter that they are still offering this pin at the 4 parks for $10.50. Did Disney REALLY GIVE a $10.50 pin away to hundreds - maybe thousands - of passholders?

Thanks for your help!
BTW - I am not really a pin TRADER or even much of a collector. I have about 8 pins in my "collection" - all of which have meaning to me. But I do like the pins and will probably pick them up piecemeal whenever I can...

:)

no
the pin cost 10.50....you had the opportunity to purchase it with an annual pass.......:)
i have a few extras if anybody needs one.....sim

I think what you remember is WDW were giving Passholders a complimentary 100 Years Of Magic Passholder Lanyard and special hangtag. The will be selling a new Passholder pin each quarter. One will be released at Festival of the Masters Nov.9-10-11 the next pin will be released Feb.15, 2002.
Now as I mentioned in another thread these Passholder pins can be purchased by any Passholder, Seasonal, Annual, Premium.

Thanks Larry, I think that must have been what I was thinking of. I think that I owe my friend $10.50! :)

There was also a free annual passholder pin and lanyard given to people who renewed their AP's. There was some controversy as to whether you had to be a Florida resident to get this pin and lanyard, but it seems like most peole who asked wer able to get them.

We got the free passholder lanyard and pin without renewing our passes - they just gave them to us.

Whoops.

Was that a mistake.

Well...I dug up my Mickey Monitor from August and found the article that I was talking about. Disneypins was correct, the article says that if you went to MGM on these particular days at the end of Sept, you could get a complimentary (one to a passholder please :) ) lanyard and hang tag. It did NOT say anything about a pin, although I just ASSUMED  that you got a pin too.
So I do believe the I do owe my friend for the pin that he sent me with the lanyard. Of course I could ASK him, but if I know him well enough, I think that he will not tell me the truth if he paid for it. I am HOPING that perhaps he had the same experience as Darlene and got the lanyard AND pin for free.

Thanks for your help everyone! :)

Beth, the lanyard and pin that Darlene is talking about for free was the "renewal" lanyard & pin. These are different from the 100 Years lanyard and pin. Only the 100 Years lanyard was free. The 100 Years AP pin cost $10.50 to any APassholder who wished to purchase it.
