My son applied and was accepted at all the colleges he applied at. Should we send a letter to the ones he decided not to go to to let them know he is not coming? Just curious on what should be done.
 
If the school made an offer, they usually have a way to decline the offer. This isn't required, but a nice formality so they won't keep a spot open.
 
I agree, not necessary but may help a student who is on a waiting list or the like. :)
 
Thank you! We actually received a letter from one of the schools today that he decided not to attend asking his intentions. Included was a tear off part that we are to mail back to them. They want to know where he is going if he is not going there.
 

Most schools have a little card that you send back. My mom made me write "personal" letters to admissions. It was a pain. Now that I work in admissions (at UNH) I realize that most of the time that personal stuff is just glanced at.
