What's the latest anyone's been able to stay at a hotel? For late check out that is. I know each hotel has a different check out policy, but on average what's the latest? Here's why I ask, I'll be heading to Albuquerque, NM on the 19th of May for a wedding, which is on the 20th. My wife, due to scheduling conflicts, will be joining me on Monday, her flight gets in at around, 7pm. We will then be heading south to visit my family in Roswell for the week. Check out time at the hotel is 12 noon, at the latest 2pm. So then what to do for the next 5 hours? If I wanted to hang by the pool, or head to the mountains and then come back to clean up I'd be limited as to the time I could do that. has a hotel been known to push check out as late as 3pm or 4pm? Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks, CCT

Which hotel are you staying at? I've stayed at the Wyndham by the airport with a late checkout of 4:00 before. I've also stayed at a Best Western (this one was in Farmington) until 4:00. No charge both times.

Call your hotel and see what they say. And when I have time to kill in Albuquerque, I always like to have lunch at Gardunos and then go to the zoo. :teeth:

I'm staying at the Marriott Albuquerque Pyramid. I've been told that the late check out is around 2, but that's what the lady on the phone said.

If you join their rewards clubs, most hotels will extend check-out. Marriott and Fairmont give until 4:00pm if I'm not mistaken.

Really? I just might have to do that. Thanks for letting me know that.

Hey! I'm in the southern part of the state! All you have to do is let the front desk know that you need a late check-out. You can also kill a little time by checking out "Old Town".

Welcome to the Land of Enchantment!

Where are you located? I'm originally from Roswell. And thanks, it'll be good to get home. I just called the hotel and the lady on the phone told me that it depends on the person and how many people are checking in that day, and how many rooms they need.

I'm in Alamogordo.

Now, I know what I'd be doing if I had to kill some time and it had been a while since I'd been here............I would be eating some green chile! :thumbsup2

When we go on vacation.......that's the first important thing we do when we get home....go eat mexican!

That's the first meal I'll be getting when I get home...Mexican!

We flew home red-eye once and the hotel had a 'hospitality' room that we used to freshen up in to get ready for our flight. You might want to ask about that too.

That's a good idea. Thanks for that.

The Dolphin allowed us to stay until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve of '03. We are SPG GOLD so I am sure that had a whole lot to do with it...and the avaiability. That is the latest we were ever able to stay without any additional fee. We love the Dolphin!

If you can't get a late check out, many Marriotts have a courtesy room that you can have access to for an hour or two.

What we did several times when we needed very late check-out, say, like 6 pm: We checked out around noon, stored our luggage at the front desk and went to the pool. We then went to the spa/gym-area for a shower and to change before retrieving our luggage from the front desk.

Thanks for all the replys everyone. And NMAmy, I deffinately plan on hitting Gardunos...how could I not?

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but the Marriott awards program isn't a credit card is it? I'd hate to have to sign up for it and then get yet another credit card.

No, it's just a program like an airline frequent flier program -- it's free to join and available to everyone, regardless of whether you plan to stay at a hotel once or 100 times. :)

LindaR! My mother was born in Alamogordo!!!!!!!! I tried to talk her into a road trip this summer to go back and see it, but she isn't up to it yet(my father died in Dec.). My grandmother who is 99 is from there too. Her parents had a ranch in Cloud Croft. Do you know of any books that are sold locally about Alamogordo, ones that have lots of pictures? I would love to get one for my mother, she met my father when he was stationed down there(1940's). I just can't believe what a small world it is!
