Actually, showers to be a bit more specific. It's been a while, but I started a thread a while back asking about plumbing and why a plumber needs to know exactly what we're doing/using in the bathroom before he will/can do any do any work. Well, now I have another question, if I may be allowed to ask. My FiL thinks that since we're going with a tile shower, instead of a prefab one, that we need to tile the ceiling to prevent any mold or mildew. I've never seen a shower that had the ceiling tiled. And if he's worried about mold & mildew then that's what they make mold & mildew resistant paint. In fact, we had a problem in my current bathroom and after cleaning the ceiling I painted with mold and mildew resistant paint and I haven't had a problem since. So, my question is in 2 parts: 1) Does anyone here on the Dis have a tiled ceiling in their shower, and 2) If you dont have a tiled ceiling, have you ever had, or did you have, a problem with mold & mildew without a tiled ceiling?
To answer my own questions; Ive never had a place, be it either of the 3 houses my parents have owned, or the apartments/houses Ive rented, where the ceiling in the shower was tiled and no mold or mildew problem. I know my FiL is trying to do whats right, but he can be a bit stubborn and I want to make sure I go in an argument with him with all the ammunition I can.
Thanks.

it. It looks so nice and I do find cleaning it easy. It's plenty big as well as they just framed out the space they wanted for it (we didn't build the house) and then tiled it in. It is actually, I would say given some experience when it was *our* bathroom, a 2 (
