A question about PIN Codes and free Dining

I called the main res number this morning to get some quotes and got a fairly helpful young lady on the phone :) After getting a quote for value season, I said I'd heard that sometimes people are targeted for a special deal based on their location. She then told me that I did in fact have a PIN attached to my name, but that it was for Peak Season. In other words, I had to ask, she wasn't going to offer that info otherwise.

The rate she quoted (with PIN) for Peak at the POR was $195 per night. Doesn't sound like much of a discount to me. She also said that she couldn't tell me what % the PIN was worth, only the price it brought up.

So my question is, does this actually sound like a discount? The Value Season quote I got for 7-nights at the POR w/ the 4 day MYW hopper and water park option for a family of 5 was $2597.27. I really need to find a better deal or DH is going to nix the whole plan.

When/if Free Dining comes out, is that available for anyone booked or only annual pass holders?

Thanks so much for the help!

Heather?

I'm a little unsure. You said you were quoted value season but the code wasnt good for peak. The peak rate was 195, the value season package was....

Now to find out how your deal is for value season at por -
how old are the people
are you doing dining
what dates (just double checking)
Standard room?

As far as saving money - we find that we have no need to park hop if we are going for 7 days - this would save you roughly $200. The cost to add days to your tickets (incase you think you are saving any real money by using less days) is only about $2 per person per day added.

By the way that quote of 2500ish is about the total amount for a 195 room plus tickets for 5 people..I was rounding stuff so I dont have an exact amount.

Call back.. speak to a different CM.

They should be able to look at the PIN code and tell you specific dates for which it is valid. There are no known pin codes on this that apply ONLY during peak season. That isn't to say they don't exist.. but only to say nobody here has reported such a thing.

Thanks for responding :) Sorry to be so unclear.

The quote of $2597 was for value season. I asked for 8/23. Hotel and 4 day tickets w/ park hopper and water park. Yes, I agree with you after thinking about it that we don't need the hopper option and would add 2 days instead. No dining on that quote.

The $195 per night was room only during peak season. I asked her to check 5/28. I didn't get a package quote including the PIN but I should probably call back and do that.

We'd just want standard room, and I asked for POR since we are a family of five (2 adults, kids aged 12, 5 and 3).

Thanks again!

195 is full price for summer season (5/28) but for a water view. There is a pin code out as well as just a general public code that allows for free upgrades with a package. That means you wouldnt pay for hopping or water parks, but pay full price for your room. Probably no standard rooms left. So for a family of 5 I think that would give you somewhere between a 400-500 savings. Off to check out the prices.

(just for comparison) May 28 7 nights package, 4 day hopper/WP tickets, 2 adults, 1 junior, 2 children, water view room - 2991ish if you get in on the special - 2545ish (Standard room did show available but i cant see what is available with specials...i'm just looking at disneyparks.com book online stuff)
Value of hopper + water parks = 446ish

Aug 23 7 nights package, 4 day hopper/WP tickets, 2 adults, 1 junior, 2 children, Standard room 2761ish. So your quote is less. But it isnt the 40% or even the 30%. I'm not sure exactly what you got. Insurance usually gets quoted in the price unless you ask for them not to but that still doesnt make it make sense. There must be somehting else in there that I just can't find right now.

Some ticket pricing without tax, advance purchase
4 day ticket with hopper/WP 3 age 10&over, 2 age 3-9 - 1361
6 day ticket with hopper/WP 3 age 10&over, 2 age 3-9 - 1373
6 day ticket with WP 3 age 10&over, 2 age 3-9 - 1194

Hum......that sounds like a lot to me. We are going to POR Aug. 21st tp 27th with 6 day base tickets for 3 adults and one child(13) and one child(5) for total cost of 1773.10. I was able to get a pin that saved us about $400 but even that is less then your quote.

nevermind I read your post as one of the adults being the 13 year old.

Thank you :) I'm going to call again because that doesn't seem right!

The "Peak Season" thing you spoke about is only good till March 30th.. and I believe it's the 30% off code that was sent out to select customers.

Call back ask for a supervisor and have them tell you the terms of the PIN. The CMs on the phones just seem to muck it up.

If free dining comes along.. you'd have to choose.. This discount or that one. You can't stack them. You'd have to pick one or the other.
