a question about coronado safety

while looking at another website (what was i thinking:}) a woman posted that while the coronado was beautiful she didn't feel safe there with her kids due to the heavy #'s of businessmen- being a single mom with 3 girls who is planning to go to wdw in may i would like to stay at the coronado but am hypersensitive re safety issues

does anyone have any thoughts (please) about the businessmen at the coronada -

There's no way to know for sure how the people will act, but I dont' think you have anything to worry about. Most of the conventions have a mixture of men and women attending (not like the ones you see on TV shows that are all men), and many companies who choose to have conventions at WDW allow people to bring their families. Maybe not all, but definitely a much higher percentage than conventions in other locations.

I wouldn't think you have to worry...there is so much security at disney.

Anytime I have ever been to a convention...disney or elsewhere..we were always so busy with meetings and such...you were lucky if you had a couple hours to check the place out.

By the way...almost all of the disney resorts have convention centers attached to them...I think this woman is being over sensitive.

I would feel much safer at CSR than I would at a local mall.
The only *action* we saw from any convetioneers was them getting their morning coffee before entering into a meeting!

Just because your are at WDW you should still be aware of everything just as if you were home. As much as we all love WDW, there are still bad people that could be around anywhere including the parks, let alone CSR.

I've stayed at Coronado and loved it and that thought never even crossed my mind. I wouldn't worry about it. We never saw any inappropriate behavior at all. There are conventions all over the place. We actually saw more business people the year we stayed at Dixie Landings than we did at Coronado. I can't really think why on earth they would present more of a danger than anyone else staying at the resort.

I'd feel alot safer walking around CSR at night than I would Pleasure Island!

I think someone is being overly sensitive or paranoid.

True, you do need to be aware of your surroundings, but that goes for everywhere!

If people just use their common sense on vacation, stay aware of your surroundings, walk in a group or a pair (at night)...everything should be just fine.

CSR is not the only resort with lots of convention business. The Swan/Dolphin and Y&B Clubs also have large convention facilities. Overflow convention guests can also be found all over WDW. If you have a fear of businessmen, I'd stay away from Orlando, period.

If someomne is using the "rowdy convetioneer" stereotype lets take a look at the Disney Hotels that can have conventioneers.

The YC/BC, CR, BWI, Swan, Dolphin, CSR. we've never had a problem with conventioneers but rather had a few laughs at them.

I think you can find bad "people" anywhere if you look for them if you want to.

If you have a fear of businessmen, I'd stay away from Orlando, period.

I have stayed at CSR with just my DD and felt very secure there. Always be aware of your surroundings and you should be fine.

I felt safer at Coronado than with all the wild teens thrashing in the pool at ASMO!

Hi Cindy,

I go to WDW with just my kids too and I felt the same way about the convention hotels. I feel safest in the Port Orleans and CBR resorts. They're not on the monorail and they're not convention. I feel safer letting my kids walk around by themselves in these resorts.
