My nephew is beginning to collect Disney posters and needs some ideas of places to find them. He has decided to make his bonus room into a Disney room. :D Anyway, he would like vintage as well as anything new. I just knew somebody here would be able to help him. Thanks a bunch.:D

If he wants movie posters, there are quite a few different ones for sale at Disney/MGM Studios in Sid Cuengha's One Of A Kind shop which is to the left when you enter the park. You can order these directly through WDW Merchandise Guest Services by calling (407) 363-6200. You can also order the Theme Park Attractions posters at this number.

Good luck!

He can find Disney movie posters on Ebay. That is where I got mine.

Is he interested in the Disneyland attractions posters?

Also, how much is he willing to spend. Some of the original attraction posters can be in the high hundred to low thousand dollars.

More contemporary duplicates are more reasonably priced.

Be careful there are a lot of fakes passed off as originals on EBAY. To begin an original pre-1980 (mostly) are 27" x 41" after 27" x 40". I would use a reputable dealer like www.moviegoods.com.

Thanks for all the tips. I'll pass these along to him and if anybody has more ideas..pass them along too. :)

Good point, MickeyCrazy.

My posters were very contemporary, so I was not so concerned about fakery.

Those are the most commonly faked. 70% of the Spiderman posters on EBAy are fake, as are a lot of the more popular titles, including Disney. The new ones are easier to fake. Gloss paper, thickness of paper, etc... are harder to reproduce in older posters, but very easy in modern. This doesn't mean that every thing is fake, it just means be careful. Moviegoods has a great feature on their site which helps novices learn about posters, and how to spot fakes.

P.S. A quick tale to illustrate my point. Recently (within the last few weeks), a seller was selling a King Kong poster they claimed as original. The poster was printed by Portal (a company that reprinted posters, never made real ones) and basically worth $5.00 to $6.00. In fact a similar poster had just sold recently for $9.00. This poster had bids up to $500.00!! until Ebay stepped in.

Try your local movie theater. Talk to the manager and see if you can make a donation for the disney movie poster. Try also your local video rental store. :earsboy:
