A proposal at Disneyland.

We need to keep this a secret but My future son-in-law has asked both families to travel to Disneyland this Christmas season and at that time he will present our DD with a ring. We have no idea how, where, or when this will occur but we are excited. He came over and discussed the plans with us this last week and asked for our blessing to marry our daughter, which of course we gave him.

And we had a 7-day cruise planned for our 25th anniversary which is now two weeks before the scheduled wedding date of 7/25/2009, so my DW sent a thread out asking for advice and our DisBoard family suggested we move the cruise till the week after the wedding to avoid wedding planning stress (on my DW, since I will just give them a big check and stay away from the action) and to have memories of the event we can talk about on vacation, so we will now be taking the 8/01/2009 cruise.

On top of it all I have to practice a father/daughter dance to the song "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman (this song has skyrocketed to my top ten song list). I am working on the choreography) and I have a pretty good idea how it will look ( my fellow men, I have never done this before, but I have creative juices flowing through my veins and I always try new things - How about those Bears? ARRGGGH). I shared it with my DW and DD and they liked it. So I guess I will be joing Pete Werner on the weight loss program so I look presentable in the pictures and be graceful on the dance floor (How about those Bears? ARRGGGH). Thank the Lord for having over a year to prepare.:scared1:

Thank you podcasters for your advice.:thanks: :disrocks:

Congrats, that is so exciting and may I say your daughter is very lucky to have you. I can't imagine my dad going to all that trouble.

Have a great time and enjoy.

Oh that is so exciting!!! I was proposed to at Disneyland and it was magical pixiedust: I am sure that will be so much fun. And the cruise after the wedding sounds perfect, my parents went on a trip right after out wedding...I think they were ready to relax after all the wedding stress. Good Luck- enjoy every moment. Make sure you have the camera ready at all times!

How wonderful! What a great way to propose!

Please come back and give us the details of when and where the proposal was! :thumbsup2

Congrats!! Our DS proposed with the Castle as the backdrop last year and got married this May.

My DIL chose "Cinderella" as her father/daughter dance. How did you say anything to your DD about it without blowing the proposal surprise? Hey wait! How do you have a wedding date??!! :confused3

You definitely did the right thing by moving that cruise. It was sheer chaos when my DD's wedding date drew closer. BTW, I highly recommend only having sons. Much less stressful when it comes to nuptials. ;) (I still have one unattached DD. Maybe I can encourage eloping when the time comes.)

Good luck and plant that money tree now. You're going to need it.

Thanks WM Regina, so you have a Disney family too?!

Well we have known the potential groom for nearly 15 years, as we are neighbors, and they have been talking about this for awhile now. They do have the plans generated and the date is secured. The only thing they are waiting for at this time is the "official" proposal, which our DD is unaware of when it will be. But as she is rather smart (and is a woman who knows a diamond is near), and both families are making plans to vacation together, for the first time, in Disneyland, she has a pretty good idea where the official proposal will be. Only the DSIL (?) will have the place and time in the park planned out. We just need to have camaras at the ready.

And thank you 401(k) loan program.
