Yes, CBR is Caribbean Beach Resort. Somewhere on this site is the list of acronyms.

As for the OP's question, I am not a CBR expert, but I am sure that they will be here to answer your question soon.

Not stupid at all -- and you would LOVE CBR -- it's our favorite!

You can pay for a preferred location or a waterview room or a king room, but for some reason Disney doesn't allow you to pay for more than one of those! When we stayed at CBR in 2005 (pics in link below) we were in Martinique room 2549 -- we had paid for a preferred location, but as you can see it also had a view of the lake.

I wouldn't pay for a waterview because it could turn out to be a view of a pool instead of the lake. King rooms are spread throughout the resort, but I don't know if any would fit all your criteria. You might ask that question on the CBR FAQ thread in this link:

Just pick the thing that matters the most to you, pay for that, and then "request" the others. No guarantee you'll get them, but they do try to accomodate guests as much as they can!

I agree with Catbertdave99. Pay for what you really want. If you want a king bed go with that. A water view is not worth the money in my opinion. Some of the views are quite creative as to where you see the water. Once you are in the room it is hard to view the water and if you are like most people you would have the blinds closed so you aren't on view to everyone walking by.

Thanks. I've reposted the question on the CBR thread. The king bed is probably the most wanted as I'm travelling solo. I guess I'll "request" a lakeview/preferred.

Much appreciated,
S.

There's no water view option at CBR. The only reservable upgrades are king bed or preferred - and you can only reserve/guarantee one of those. Keep in mind, even the preferred villages have rooms that are as far from Port Royale as possible.

Anyway, you can reserve (based on availability) a king bed and request a water view in one of the preferred buildings, or a preferred location with a water view. List your requests in order of importance, and remember - the fewer you have, the more likely Disney will succeed.

Yes there is a category for water view at CBR. You have standard, water view, king bed, preferred.

I made my reservation yesterday...going to CBR and took a water view as preferred was not available, even though my quote on-line was for a preferred room....so was just wondering, if i call back now and then can the reservation be changed from water view to preferred if that becomes available and do the preferred location rooms make that big of a difference....being close to the bus and the main pool would be the bigest things for us.

Thanks!:dance3:

If preferred is not available when you call you will need to keep checking back. You are never far from a bus stop at CBR.

In Nov. 2003 we were "upgraded" to a King Bed, Preferred Room with Water view. It was in a second story corner room in Jamaica. A few steps away was the lake.
The view of the water and flowers was gorgeous!
Good Luck getting all three!:wizard:

Jamaica is not a preferred location costing extra nightly. That does sound like a great room.

Thanks everyone. I'm still not sure where to stay, though. This travelling solo thing is harder than I thought. The values are okat -- they're on property BUT while I do love kids, I also don't want a constant reminder that my DS(6) is not with me --this will also be our first time apart for longer than a night :sad2: . And while I love the moderate grounds, I also don't want to be reminded of my Disneymoon and the subsequent divorce. :confused3

Any resport suggestions?
