I just got back from my vacation last week, checked my emails, and found out that the gifts I had left for a Magic Kindom CM and another guest checking in the same day are gone and they have no record of it!!

When I checked in on Sept. 24th, I asked the CM where I could leave the gift packages so they could be picked up by the people I was giving it to. The CM asked me the name of the person I was giving it to, and when they would be checking in. I told them same day, Sept.24th, but around 6pm. She wrote it down, showed her manager, and told me to leave the gifts at the luggage storage area.

So I do that, thinking everything would be fine and both families would be happy to receive the surprise gift. Stupid me, I didn't bother to check if they had been picked up while I was still there.

When the CM tried to pick up the gift on Sept. 26th, he was told he needed my room number. Of course I don't find out till now, after I'm back and checking my emails that he needed it, which I just called Pop and they said that's strange, he shouldn't need it.

The other person who I left the gift for, asked upon check-in if there was a package for her, they said no. On the day she checked-out, she asked the luggage storage people if there was a package for her and again they said no!

I figured that at least if the packages are still there, it can be mailed to her, but I just got off the phone with Pop, and they said there's nothing!

So then where did they go?!

Does anybody on the boards here work at Pop and can look into this matter for me? I was told to call back at 9am and speak with the lost and found.

I can't believe they messed up both packages!! Do you think it's possible that somebody stole it? Any suggestions of what I should do now? Thanks!!

I'm completely lost here - Why were you leaving gifts for other people checking in? Why not just give them to them yourself?

Doesn't seem strange at all. We actually had this happen with friends of ours (in Italy, though). They were leaving the hotel a few hours before we were due to arrive and they left a bottle of wine at the check-in desk for us. It was a very nice surprise. So, I can only assume that the OP was trying to leave a gift for friends that were about to check-in, but their times did not coincide. I am not sure why the POP told you to leave the gifts in luggage storage. I probably would have tried to leave them with the check-in desk. I hope they find your stuff.

Poster is saying they were checking in the same day as the people they were giving the gift to.

Why not just give it to them yourself?

I'd like to hear more about this. What do they mean, "surprise gift"? Does the poster even know these people? I don't mean to sound rude, but this whole post is very confusing and odd.

I always put tags on my gift boxes with the name the reservation is under and check in date. I take them to the front desk and have them put a note on the reservation about the gift. That way they have a record of it.

OP, keep on them. Recently, I delivered a gift bag and a gift box to the Contemporary for the same family. They received the gift box, but not the bag. The bag had a tag on it with the reservation name and the day they were checking in. I left both the bag and gift box the morning of their check in date. It took a couple of calls, but they finally found it. They told me it had just been delivered by the Disney Florist. This was the next day. I told the guest services manager that I had no connection to the Disney Florist and that I had personally delivered it myself the prior morning along with the gift box. He had no explanation, but said it had just arrived from the Disney Florist. Sometimes, they get confused. You might check with package pickup at the resort. It might have gotten taken there. Good luck!

I would be asking them what they could do to make up for it. This is awful and I am so sorry you had to endure it.

Sounds to me like they were either stolen or delivered to the wrong person. Either way you are owed compensation.
This is a normal task expected of front desk CMs and should have been handled a little more professionally. Dont let them shrug their shoulders and get away with it. Thats a disgrace.

How awful....Keep calling until they find the packages or compensate you for them. Don't let them just tell you they can't find them and do nothing.

Before I left, I posted a message on these boards asking what I should do if I wanted to give a gift to somebody checking in on the same day. A reply I received was to mention it at check-in, and they would tell me what to do from there, it has been done before and is not such a difficult task, so that is what I did.

One reason why I could not give it to them myself is because I arrived at 8am in the morning and headed straight for the parks, had dinner reservations at 5:40pm and didn't want to wait around in the hotel for them to arrive. The package was for a family I had met on the message board, flying out of the same airport as I on the same day, first time at Disneyworld with 2 younger kids, and it was suppose to be a nice surprise for the kids upon check-in. Of course the parents knew about it, just not the kids, and I told her to ask for it upon check-in which she did, but they said there was nothing. I have never met this family before and was just trying to be nice.

The second reason why I chose not to meet with this family is because I don't want them to feel like they owe me, or need to buy me anything or feel guilty in anyway about not giving me something back. I had told the mother it was just a package of stickers, but in addition to that I had included a huge box of chocolates that can only be bought in Canada, some specialty hand dipped chocolates I had made myself and a can of ketchup Pringles, also something that cannot be purchased in the US. The box as well as the sticker envelop containing hundreds of stickers had been customized with their family name and Welcome to Disneyworld, hope you have a magical trip, etc., with Disney characters on it and a blue/black marble border. I even made smaller boxes for each of the children, personalized of course with their names and various Disney characters, each box containing minature sized chocolates for them. I put in a lot of effort getting the package together, it wasn't as easy as just buying a box of chocolates.

I knew that once they saw what was inside, along with the detail of the presentation, the parents would feel as if they needed to buy me something, and I don't want to put them in that position, as I did not do all of this because I wanted something in return.

I did tag both gifts of course, To Name of Reservation and Family, and on the back, our first names. I had placed both gifts on the counter when I checked-in and asked where to leave it, as I thought it would be kept somewhere behind the counter as well, but the CM told me to put it in luggage storage, which is outside. The rest of the story you know.....

So 3 CMs new about these packages, the check-in CM, the Manager and the luggage check-in CM. They all understood that it was a gift, and that the owners of the gift would be coming to pick it up, not me.

That completely sucks. WHat the heck happened to it???

I agree wirh some of the posters about following through and being compensated for what was lost. Not sure, but do you, are you supposed to receive a *receipt* for what you had left with them??

That should have been put directly into their room - Ive rec'vd items upon check in before, and they were either in the room, and brought to my room right after I was checked in.

Good luck ...

I would call back and ask to speak to any of the 3 CMs involved, you did get their names I hope.

They should know what happened to the gifts.

OK - Now I follow you.

That was awfully nice of you. I hope you get the issue resolved. Sadly, it won't make up for it now, but you should at least get an explanation.

I've learned never to trust CM's with anything like that. After our wedding at the Polynesian last year, we dropped off the tuxes at the front desk at Pop, and asked that they be sent over to ASMovies, since my best man was headed home the next day. They promised they would have them there by the time he left. They never got there. Hadn't even left Pop by the tim he left.

I raised holy hell and told Disney they could ship them back to the tux rental place and pay any late fees for it. They knew they screwed up, and took care of it.

As them to check their bell services log and their runner log. If they took it to bell services, they should have logged it in. They put tickets on everything they accept. If they had a runner deliver it to a room, it should be on the runner log.

It's odd, because anything I have ever left at luggage I received a tag for it. I shipped down a bottle of champagne a month before my trip with a friend. Same thing, the CM and manager looked at the letter and put it in luggage. They gave her a luggage tag and had no problem when I arrived.

Strange :confused3

It does seem rather odd to me that they had you give it to bell services. My gift baskets go to the back room behind the front desk. In fact, the manager at Pop Century recently gave me the code to the door for the back room so that I could go back and place my gift baskets on the shelf for delivery without standing in line. I've never had to give them to bell services.

Simple question, who did you give the gifts to in the luggage area?
To anyone willing to give you an official Disney receipt establishing that they're officially taking responsibility for it. That's essential.

Unfortunately I don't remember her name, but at the same time we left the gifts, we also checked-in our carry-on, as I mentioned we had just arrived from the airport and were heading to the parks, and our room wasn't ready yet. That night, when we arrived in our room, our ME luggage had arrived as well as the luggage we left in the storage area. So I thought, wow, that's great, there shouldn't be any problems with the other 2 packages then....
She gave us a receipt for the carry-on we were going to pick up, which I can't find now unfortunately, but the other 2 she did not give us a receipt for, but wrote up 2 seperate tags for them. I explained the circumstances behind each of the gifts, even asked if there would be a problem if the CM couldn't come to pick it up right away, she said no problem!

It's strange because when the CM first went to pick up his package on Monday Sept 26th, instead of saying, there's no package here for you, they said, you'll need the room number of the person who left the package, which is not a standard question. So obviously the package was there that day, but just a few days ago, after I emailed him my room number and reservation numbers etc, they told him there was nothing there for him and one of the supervisors even came out to help him, but said there was no record of it.

So if I call and ask them for a record of the bags I've checked into storage, will they have a record of it all still?

Is there a toll free number I can use to call the resorts cause I have a feeling I'm going to have to make several phone calls! Thanks!
