We checked into our favorite resort CSR on Friday. We checked in around 3 pm, which although is not late, is late for us. At check in we were told that the resort was almost sold out with nothing in building 9B, 8A or 8B which were our top 3 choices. The CM handling the check in told me I would be in 7A--in the Ranchos. "OH NO!! Not the dreaded Ranchos! " I thought. Well, there was nothing else available so in we moved. Well.......to my pleasant surprise we liked it!!!! The building was QUIET, with very little foot traffic outside the door. We were 2 minutes from the quite pool and 4 minutes from the main pool. We had a car so getting to the main building was not a problem. The theming in that area of the resort was nicer than I had been led to believe and all in all, this was a nice stay. I think I will be requesting this building again.

Oh I love hearing this. I have ressies for July and didn't request a specific building because I did ask for connecting rooms. Ranchos would be fine with me. I find them to be rather appealing.

The Ranchos is actually our favorite area at CSR, which is our favorite moderate resort. We love the themeing in that area. It's the best at the resort. 7B is our favorite building. It's close to the main pool and just a nice little walk over the bridge to the food court area.

we found that too!! can't wait to plan our 10th ann trip (2010) because the Ranchos looked so quiet and peaceful. we had cabanas 8a even though we requested 9b, but loved the view of the lake, but on our many zips around the lake in the golf cart taxis, i just loved the ranchos theming!

I think the only problem anyone ever has with what section they are in is the walking. If you have no problem walking, it doesn't matter what section you stay in. It's a great resort all the way around.

I stayed at CSR in April and i lovved it:cloud9:

I stayed in Ranchos I believe it was building 6A. It was wonderful, very quiet and not to far from the main pool. I also wanted to stay in the Casistas, but upon check in they were sold out. I could not have stayed in a better building.

Actually, CSR is "a pleasent suprise", the grounds, the food court, the pool, the bus service, the staff, and everthing else.

I looks like a beautiful resort but I have 2 questions - is it true that a 10% gratuity is added at the food court and that the pool can be shut down in cases of large conventions at the hotel? Just curious...

I have loved CSR for years, it is my favorite Moderate hands down. I have always stayed in the Cabanas or Casita #3 and love the Cabanas. I have heard negative things about the Ranchos, mostly how remote they were. Like I said in my previous post.....pleasantly surprised.

I for one LOVE the food court. I like the real dishes and cloth napkin. I love being seated first and not having to roam the food court to find a seat with a heavy tray. I do not mind the extra 10%.

The pool area is spacious and open. It is beautifully themed. It is also often crowded, but rarely feels oppressively so.

I am worried however that with the expansion of the convention area that rooms for regular guests are going to be few and far between. I just booked a trip for Feb and CSR is sold out for pasholders. I am going to try again later on, but for now it is not an option.
