A Pixie Dusted Christmas 2013 - Completed 8/4/14

They say Christmas at the Magic Kingdom is Crazy – Well, call me Crazy!!
I have never been away from my parents on Christmas in my entire life. When we made the decision to go on this trip there was a lot of talk about the rest of the family joining in as well, but a few days before we booked after Christmas 2012 my sister shared some amazing news. She was having another baby!! That meant they would not be traveling with the little one and my parents would want to be at baby’s first Christmas. I was a little bummed BUT….
I WAS SPENDING CHRISTMAS DAY AT THE MAGIC KINGDOM!
I am guessing because Christmas is Christmas no matter where we are - we are all up early on Christmas morning. Santa had been in our room and left some fun little stocking stuffers for Sophie (Yes I brought our stockings from home and hung them on the coat hanger in our room).

She wanted some holiday cuddles and then since we were up we got dressed and ready to head to Magic Kingdom.
It was a little chilly out so early in the morning, but we were prepared. You see we have a tradition in our house. My sister started this when my daughter was born – “Let’s all get matching pajamas,” she said. Most of us moaned about it, but 8 years later WE are still doing it. My sister has dropped out, as have my parents, but we love it and it was a must do for our day at the MK – We bought matching pants and my Mom used an extra pair to create our matching shirts!! With our fun light up Mickey’s and these wonderful hats my co-worker made my daughter and I – we were all ready for the holiday Magic!!

We had heard all the talk about it being super crowded on Christmas Day and be ready to walk side by side touching shoulders – but when we booked this trip we all agreed we would spend Christmas in the Magic Kingdom no matter how crowded. We just wanted to say we were there for Christmas. When we got to the boat dock there was only 2 other small groups waiting to head over so we got there for rope drop once again!!! It was not really crowded at all. Rope drop was a fun experience the first day, but on Christmas?? Even more magical!

We had an ADR at Crystal Palace for breakfast at 8:45 – 2 hours away so what to do first? We headed to Tomorrowland. We had planned a Fastpass for the Speedway, but changed it when we found out about the Jungle Cruises switch to a Jingle Cruise. The lines had been running pretty long for the ride due to the switch so we decided we would head to the Speedway first thing in the AM and switch the FP+. This was my daughter’s favorite ride in the past so she really wanted to drive. I opted out and sent them on their way. With no line it was quick and we did not have to wait in the exhausted filled lines!!

As soon as they got off, she had her eyes locked on one ride – Space Mountain! Her new favorite called to us and this time – We all got to go- one fully recovered patient ready! I was feeling great. No line first thing in the morning for Space Mountain on Christmas?? Yes please! Check out our fun photo with the matching PJ’s!! The CM getting the photos attached to our PhotoPass+ loved our Pj’s – which was actually a common thing we heard all day long!!

What to do next? We decided to ride the Astro Orbitor – talk about a view. This is when our day got sprinkled with more Pixie Dust than I could have ever dreamed up. We got in the line and were waiting to go up in the elevator with another family. My husband looked at the CM’s name tag closely and asked her, “Where did you go to college?” Sure enough he had gone to school with her and they had run in a pretty similar circle of people. When we came down from riding the ride we asked for her signature in our book. We were headed toward the Stich Meet & Greet that was going on – the CM told us to come see her when we were done for the signature.

We had a silly visit with Stitch – how could it not be right? He is one of our favorites. My husband and daughter both love using his voice. (The girls behind us wanted a photo with Stitch and his CM handler!! He was pretty cute!)

:tinker:We went back by the Orbitor for the signature and the CM asked if we needed any FastPasses. We told her we had our 3 all scheduled and she said, “But it is Christmas, let’s get you some more”. She proceeded to write what we refer to as Golden Tickets - 3 additional passes that would act just like a FP for the day. Only you do not have to worry about time windows, you just go to the FP line and show them the pass. Can you say Pixie Dust? Merry Christmas to us!! Our plans for the day changed in an instant.

We headed towards breakfast with very large smiles on our faces and an extra pep in our step. The park was filling up and everyone was smiling. During our castle shots, one cast member said, “I wish I was in my PJ’s right now” I thanked him for working so we could have such a special day and that started me off on a trend for the rest of the day. No matter where we went – lines, servers, drivers I thanked everyone for working on Christmas and making our day so special. Many people thanked me for acknowledging that, a few said they would not want to be anywhere else! In fact in the whole day I only encountered one grumpy gus and it was totally intentional and a part of their character (Haunted Mansion!)

We got all checked in at a very busy Crystal Palace and while we waited for our table got some awesome magic shots (FYI if a PhotoPass/MemoryMaker cameraman is in an area and not on a tripod, just holding their camera, ask if they take Magic Shots and you will most likely have someone/thing extra in your photos with you.)

We grabbed some hot cocoa while waiting and soon it was time to have breakfast with Winnie-the –Pooh and friends!!
The buffet had a lot of wonderful choices on it. Our server recommended the Puffed French Toast – yum and I enjoyed the breakfast lasagna! We stuffed ourselves and enjoyed the view as well (we sat right by a window showing the Castle).

We all enjoyed the character visits – I for one found Piglet to be simply adorable and Tigger a blast!! Plus who doesn’t love Eeoyore??

As we finished eating and waited for the characters we talked about what we wanted to use out Golden Tickets for….What a day it was going to be.:santa:

Oh my goodness, I love your jammies!!!!! And what your mom did for your shirts!!! How fun!

How cool that your husband knew the CM... even without the golden ticket! WITH it... WOW!!! I can't wait to hear about the rest of your day!!

That is the first time I've seen that magic shot!! I love it! I did one of those FB quizzes and I got Tiana. So I approve! Hehe.

What a great Christmas morning you had. :goodvibes

I can't wait to hear how things progressed as the crowds started to pour in for the day. Good thing you were staying at the WL, just a boat ride away. :)

Looks like such a fun start to Christmas! Your matching jammies are too cute! I love them! Can't wait to hear the rest about your magical holiday!

What a fun idea wearing matching pjs on Christmas Day in the MK. CP is now a family favorite, wish I would have tried the puffed toast.
We opted to go to AK on Christmas Day to avoid the crowds. Everything was walk-on until 10:30.
The crowds were manageable by getting all the must dos done at RD. My hubby wants to do Christmas week again. YAY for Disney but I'd like to experience Disney during non peak times.
Thanks for the fun report.

We had a blast and I think we got out before the crowds really hit.

Beautiful family! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much.

Christmas was a blast and we filled in as much as we could that day.[/COLOR]

We thought about doing a different park that day for about a second after we booked, but figured we would only do this time of year once and wanted to say we were there. We were at Ak the next day..coming soon

Wow. I am loving this so much, Christmas day at the Magic Kingdom!! How incredibly magical!
I LOVE the jammies! Great idea.
What luck with those golden tickets!
Sounds like a wonderful breakfast, love the character photos. I can't wait for more!

SOOOOOO I am way behind on my trip report. The winter really hung on here in Illinois and totally zapped me into a funk.

I am working on the second part of our Christmas Day events and will post so soon.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter

Hi Laura, I am so sorry I didn't look up your tr before now. You have an adorable little girl. SM is one of my favorites, I am so glad she liked it. (I hope you use a golden FP to ride again.) Glad you were able to enjoy it on Christmas. How fun to wear your pjs all day. They make your pics stand out. I can't wait to read the rest. I might still slip over and read the ptr.

I just found you and wanted to say I am loving your TR! We are planning a Christmas trip for 2016 so I am really enjoying hearing about everything.

Thanks for looking us up. It was such a magical day. We did not do Space Mountain again that day but did it once more before the end of our trip.

Disney at the holiday - AMAZING!! Enjoy the planning process. I found the crowds not so bad leading up to Christmas - they got busier after but not unbearable.

Christmas is Golden
After out fantastic breakfast on Christmas morning we were looking at our plans and they were changing a bit for the day. We had our 3 FP+ booked and had planned on just wandering around and people watching between them. We thought we might get in one stand-by line but…with the addition of some special passes we had some choices to make.

No choice what we would do first, we had a FP+ at Fairytale Hall. My daughter and had been lucky enough to meet Rapunzel on our Halloween visit, but dear hubby was really excited to meet her this trip. The standby line was only 35 minutes, but growing.

She was super sweet and also mentioned wanting to be in her PJ’s. We asked where Flynn was and she said he was making dinner!! What a guy (I wish they would put him in the hall with her full time. He really was such a large part of that movie – what a fun treat at Halloween, but hubby missed out)

Rapunzel even kissed the autograph book – a perfect lipstick print in the book.
Snow White was super sweet. We saw her 3 times this trip and this one was my favorite!! - Just very cute.

Our next stop was one I had been looking forward to a lot – Enchanted Tales with Belle. I had heard it was such a fun experience and so I was hoping it would live up to the hype. We got in line and one of the families we had been in line with for Anna & Elsa were there as well – so fun.

I love how when we went in they told kids to come right in front and pushed all the adults in back – so perfect. My daughter loved the mirror entrance to the castle. – She did not however love the part they assigned her – Maurice shivering in the cold cell. She basically shut down and decided she was not going to do it.

I was assigned the part of the wardrobe and ask her if she wanted to switch, but she just decided to watch. I was sad because I know she is a performer normally, but did not want to push it. I ended up playing her part as well as mine and in the end she still got to go up and take a photo with me and Belle.
The Belle dress is the prettiest one I have ever seen her in – stunning really. Don’t get me wrong Belle is my favorite and I always love her, but you see the difference right? HERE is the yellow dress we saw her in a few years ago.
The PhotoPass guy takes tons of photos and on the way out you gets a card with all from that storytelling session - Very fun and a cute card addition to the scrapbook.

After an almost break down we needed a few moments of downtime. We found a place ti sit and just talked for a little bit to make sure she was okay and find out what happened in her head. She was able to explain she was not happy about her part and had hoped for something else. She mentioned next time we came she would know about the parts and be more prepared.
Our next FP was not until 3PM so we had to a little time kill and 3 Golden Tickets to use, but where?

PETER PAN with no wait?? Okay. We decided to do that one first and Erik really enjoyed it. He wonders why it is so popular and always has such a long wait time, but he liked the ride in the ship.

We picked up a Disney Cook-Book for my Dad and Sophie traded for a Christmas Pin ,with a 20-year cast Member, while we were in the store. It is a real nice one and a great memory of the trip. We also snagged some photos of the cute Rapunzel’s Tower. If you hear anyone say this is an amazing bathroom area – 100% true. Some Disney ice cream treats were also enjoyed around this time.

We decided we would head over towards Haunted Mansion (we were already right there). This is not a ride Sophie had ever been on and not one she really wanted to go on – mostly the main room with the total darkness. BUT she has promised to go on it this trip. She was a trooper. We got through the line quickly and got crowded into the room. She dug her head into my stomach but I got her to look at the silly pictures as we moved downward. In the end the hardest part for her was getting to the buggy. - Everyone just sort of pushes out of the room and it gets super crowded in the line to the loading area (have to say worst line for this, in my opinion). In the end she was laughing at out hitchhiking ghost .We asked if she wanted to do it again and the answer was a very firm NO!!

It was getting closer to our window for the Jingle Cruise so we started to make our way over towards Adventureland. On the way over we decided Pirates of the Caribbean would be a great way to use out last Golden Ticket. We had no plans to ride this during our trip- having other plans for Fastpass and waiting to avoid what we thought would be a pretty long line. What fun to be able to go in and enjoy the ride again. The little boys in front of us on the boat were having a blast

It was time for the Jingle Cruise. Not sure what inspired Disney to do this fun Holiday switch up but it was cute. The lines were sooooo long as everyone wanted to experience the holiday switches.

From the signs in the line (our longest Fastpass line) to the names of the boats, it was a fun ride as always.
As we came off the ride we started to notice the crowd. :crowded:It had really started to grow as the day went on. We knew we wanted to make our way to the front of the park and head back to Wilderness Lodge for the afternoon and evening.

One little girl had been begging to buy her Stitch Pillow Pet and Mouse Ears so after making our way to Main Street we ducked into the store and got both. We walked all through the store trading pins and avoiding crowds on the streets for the Celebration Parade. We came right where the parade enters the gates near the fire station and the CM’s were dancing up a storm –and loving our pajamas and pins.

It was finally time to head back to the hotel. WE WERE HAPPY BUT EXHAUSTED.

Yay! An update! I have been missing your Christmas updates! Looks like you had a great Christmas day and got lots of stuff done!

I also love the new Belle dress! It is so pretty! I think the Jingle Cruise sounds like a cute way to jazz it up for the holiday!

Welcome back!

Thanks for the welcome back - I so need to get the TR completed and am happy to have time once again to really work on it...in fact...another update coming in a few.

Christmas Dinner
When we arrived back at Wilderness Lodge we quickly took a family photo in our PJ’s in front of the amazing tree.

We headed upstairs. We called the family and spread holiday cheer then decided to relax with some Club Level snacks, plus a make your own cookie kit Mickey had left the night before.

I am pretty sure we all fell asleep at different times, but were very tired as we prepared for our dinner at Artist Pointe. We clean up pretty nice and wow that tree looks good in photos…

Dinner was amazing. The food was wonderful. I especially enjoyed my dessert trio and watching Sophie paint her chocolate puzzle.

There was no denying that it had been an amazing Christmas day, but we also had not trouble saying it was time for bed as well.
More fun times still to come.

Just finished reading your trip report - FANTASTIC!! I LOVED your matching pj's, thought your idea of thanking all the CM's for making your Christmas so special was really touching (will keep that in mind when we are there this Christmas!) and thought it very fitting that you received such a special treat on Christmas Day. Thanks for sharing your trip!

I am totally enjoying your trip report. I adore Stephen Curtis Chapman. I won front row tickets to his concert in February. It was wonderful. I'd love to see him do the Candlelight Processional.

I LOVE that you wore matching pj's for Christmas day. How fun to be in Disney for Christmas! And golden fastpasses were such an awesome treat. :goodvibes

Can't wait to read more. :)

I love the picture of Sophie with Rapunzel's tower in the background! Super cute!!

How sweet that Rapunzel kisses the autograph book. I'm pretty sure she and I have met ;)

The matching PJs were so much fun and the thanks just go with it I think. It is a magical day but when you think of all the people working so your day can be magically...well it is important to say thank you always
