Calling Beverly Lynn or any other Pittsburgh native...

We are debating on whether to do Park n Fly, park at the airport, or spend the night park at a motel nearby and use their shuttle service and keep our car there.

What motels are nearly that we can do this?

What are some of the going rates in parking end of things. We will be parking for eight days...

Thank you in advance!

Amy

We will be using the airport on Saturday and we usually use the extended parking lot at the airport. It's 5.75/day. There are constant shuttles that take you to the landside terminal or you can take the covered moving walkway to the terminal if you can get a spot close. I have never used any outside parking, but I think the rates are comparable.

A couple times we went away we used Global parking, which is located on Beers School Road, closer to where the old airport was. it was OK, no problems and we got a discount coupon in the paper and paid 4.75 a day. The shuttle took about 15 minutes. The last time we went, we parked at extended right at the airport. It was a little bit more, money wise but alot more convenient. We will pay the extra and just park at the airport from now on. As for the hotels, I think it actually ends up to be about the same price or more as if you parked at the airport or shuttled. The going rate for hotels near the airport are anywhere from 75.00-100.00 a night.

pretty much all of the airport hotels do the parking thing. but you must factor in the cost of parking the car versus parking for the week. globe parking has all kinds of discount coupons, charlie browns parking lot has the and indoor park and fly has them as well. the airport extended term parking is 5.75 a day and if you are close enough to wlak the enclosed walkway they have the people movers in them. you can also go to one of the shuttle stops and it will escort you to the front door. or you can drive by and drop everythign off to the skycaps let them check your bags in and then proceed to the parking lot and then park and head to your gate to check in. the choice is yours. personally for the 25-50 cent difference I park at the airport. it is better than waiting for the shuttle to pick me up ....I liek to be able to just go to my car. its a pain to me to have to take the shuttle.

We like to stay at the Marriott Pittsburgh Airport. It is a very nice upscale hotel, and rooms are nice, too. They do offer a concierge level, if you would want that extra level of service. Sometimes they even have rates as low as $59 for Friday or Saturday night. (It was non-refundable when we got it). :)

I have a friend who lives in Arnold (New Kensington), which is about an hour to the airport without traffic. They like to get the first flight in the morning, so it's worth it to them to stay at one of the hotels that offer free parking. That way they can go the night before and not have to get up so early and drive all the way to the airport, especially if it's on a weekday morning with traffic. She usually finds a hotel in the $50 - $60 range (check the yellow pages). So if you live far from the airport, that's a good option. For me, it's only 20 to 30 minutes, so I just park in extended.

Amy,
Because I'm not sure which is a priority to you (value, convenience, etc.) I'll just give ya my 2 cents about what we plan to do for our WDW vacation 9/23-9/30! We live about an hr from the airport & our flight leaves @ 7:56. We want to get to the airport VERY early 1.) Because we have to try to rearrange our seats & 2.) Because DH is a chronic worrier! It just made sense for us to stay @ an airport hotel & shuttle over. Haven't checked all the hotels out yet, but got an online rate of $65 for 9/22 @ Courtyard Marriott in Coraopolis. Since it's just a little more than we would pay to park @ airport, we'll pack leisurely Sat., check in & the kids can swim all day. Up early Sun (but not as early as we would have been!) & off in the shuttle to our flight. A word of warning though....if you check rates online, always be sure to try the "best available" rate (don't check any promotion or discount). Turns out that the "govt" rate I could use is actually higher than not using any discount! Hope this helps. No matter what you decide, enjoy your trip. ;)

;) I wanted to thank you all for all of your help and advice.

I am a bit of a worrier and this is our first time flying. We have a 2 hour drive to the airport. I am not sure of our flight time yet, due to us doing a charter and we wont know for another few weeks or so, but we are leaving 10/13 and coming back 10/20...

I always try to plan in advance.

Thank you again, I appreciate all of the input...
