Well, word reached me last night that at least one or two of my VMK friends have been / are upset with me beacuse of my "luck" in the host games, and my unwillingness to gift the hard-gotten green throne.

Pardon me but why should I? If I had lots , then yes it wouldnt be a problem, but I (as anyone who gets into the host games knows) work hard to get in and win. That's right work hard. I refresh , and start clicking like crazy, and my mouse never moves to fast to the enter room button. Then if I dc or lose I'll try again and again if necessary. If you want something, work at it. Nothing comes at you for free in this life if you're too lazy to persevere. Don't give up after on go because you "might dc" or "are no good at the game".

As for dc, yea we are all in the same boat. If you dc, try again. Of you can't be bothered to keep trying and would rather go chat in a room, then please don't whine about other people's success if they DO keep trying. I've DC many times but still try again, even though it is often maybe 1 or 2 in the morning my time. I still do it.

Say you're no good at the game? Well practice! For the throne game, line up some chairs as in the game and practice! Same with the climbing game, buy some crates and arrange them up like the game, add a few seats or chairs...and practice! I could never win the climbing game until I had done this a while. I took the time to do it. If you can't don't whine.

As for the general gifting, why should I go around giving out these chairs free like candy? I own a fair bit of good stuff in VMK (not as much as I would like and I've been playing since beta) and a lot of this has been achieved through the trading of won items like thrones and pins.

I've been gifting the pirate game stuff all around VMK last couple of days (even had one kid say they gloved me!) , and been eager to help out giving away narnia and everest stuff in the past to people who cannot play the games. Still see people trading all that stuff. Maybe if I'm that selfish, I'll do the same huh.

It's just like life, if you want stuff, you must work for it. May not be nice and may not be easy but you do what you have to do

Anyway sorry for the rant, but I needed to get that off my chest. Call me selfish if you want, just do it to my face not behind my back

I do not know you in the game. I am happy that you have had such great luck with the HOST games congratulations!!I do not think you should have to worry about feeling guilty about not gifting the coveted green chair.

I would never expect my friends in the game or on the DIS to have to gift me this it is too hard to get. I am sorry some of your friends are upset with you because you unwillingness to gift this item...maybe you should rethink your friends.

But what I am is offened by your statements that those of us who have all but given up on host games are LAZY.

Far from it.

Like I said I am really glad for you but there are a host of issues with getting into a host game not just DCs which are an issue all unto themselves. LOL

I have spent countless hours trying to get into host games to no avail...can not even get in line most of the time. So do not be so quick to judge and make blanket statements unless you have walked in someones elses shoes or played on their computer. ;)

You also go on to say practice how can a player practice something they have never had an op to see.

Hey Mal :)

Point taken :thumbsup2

However the "lazy" statement was in the statement about getting in and maybe dc or losing. If you can get in, and dc or just lose, and THEN cannot be bothered to keep trying, then it certtainly does apply. Period. I know those who have whined CAN get in, hence the comment...and the practice statement too.

I also understand people having other problems getting in. I HAVE been there, albeit briefly, and believe me I know your pain lol. However, is it ok even for those who cannot get in , to begrudge and complain about those who do get in behind their back? If so then a lot of people need to do some serious thinking.

I do not feel guilty about it. I try hard to get what I have, and intend to do with it as I see fit. It is the whiners who should feel guilty, about the possibilty of losing a friendship...and as you say maybe it is time I rethink that issue.

Greed and jealousy is becoming too big a part of VMK, especially lately, which is very sad. People could call me greedy for not gifting a throne, but then again I don't go around TRADING pirate game items as I have seen done.

Is it ok for people to begrudge you getting in and winning- NO! I do not think it is. Personally I nor any of the people I know have ever complained about "so and so gets into all the HOST games not fair".

I am happy for my friends who can and do. Just as I am happy for those who have won the elusive Pirate Costume, the dirty dogs ;) :goodvibes

If I could get in I would be there every night trying to win but sadly I can not. :( :badpc:

So far, I agree with what has been said.

It's one thing that they go behind your backs just because you can get into the host game, but expecting the prize that you earned? They should play the game themselves! I think you've said this Mad; you'd be happy to gift some if you had extras. If I had extras (which I have been trying to get because I've already gotten one), I would gift it to a good friend that may not have been able to get in the host game; a friend that doesn't complain that I got in to the game while they didn't.

As for Host Games, I don't feel I am "lazy" in giving up on the games. I only go into Hula's games - I know that she is always late with opening her games, so I refresh VMK at the time that she should open. If I get into the line, I stay, and wait. If I'm a little late, I don't bother, because I know I will lose connection.

And Mad, that was a pretty smart idea of setting up the chairs to make your "own host game"! :thumbsup2

I completly agree with what your saying. I also want to add when people say I am "lucky" that I am decent at fireworks it annoys me to no end. I am NOT lucky- I kept at it! I tell them "Do you think I was any good the first umpteenth games I played?" In the first games I didn't even know how to change the cursor! lol. I played and played and was able to buy bat magic and then a quest machine to use in trades.
Sorry for stealing your rant but I do understand!

Hey Mad,

So sorry to hear that is happening to you. It is good that you "aired" it all out and hopefully those "friends" got your message loud and clear. No one should be expected to blindly hand out any item they have obtained. I wish more players (and this is not my opinion of the majority) could just say, "Hey congratulations on your prize! You really deserved it!" But because we live in a time where instant gratification is demanded (and sadly becoming more acceptable), it is hard for the younger generation, as a whole, to accept responsibility for their own actions. And we all hear, "I want this, I want that, I want those!" That will never change, but just believe that you have many friends who are truly happy for you.

Congratulations on your prizes! :thumbsup2
Catch you in fireworks!
Debbie ;)

Mad - my sentiments exactly. I will put my foot forward to win a prize for anyone, but first and foremost you must realize that this prize I worked for and I will decide to trade to whom I want to or gift whom I want to.

Glad you have the host game luck. Keep up the good work and maybe I will beat you in a host game someday. :lmao:  Just kidding.

well said , the fact of the matter is you did the game and should be entitled to decide if , when and to whom you decide to gift or trade as you wish.
I for one get really tired of seeing the same names several times begging for things to be gifted or wished for on the lists..its one thing if they can not do the disneyonline games , such as narnia or pirates, monsters etc. but things that can be done on vmk is another story.
