Hi everyone,

A friend of mine mentioned today how much he loves this particular forum, and how much it's helped him in planning an upcoming stay to Fort Wilderness. I have to be honest, I hear this A LOT and it occurred to me that it might be nice if I dropped in and shared that feedback with all of you.

I have just recently been 'bitten' by the Fort Wilderness bug (actually, on my last visit I was bitten by about 12 of them) - it is now hands down my favorite Disney resort - something I never thought I would say (I'm not exactly the 'outdoorsy' type). While I'm not brave enough to go camping, I do love the cabins and everything about Ft. Wilderness. My partner Walter and I could not get over the sense of community that seems inherent at Ft. Wilderness - everyone smiles and says hello (something I rarely see at other resorts), and there is a relaxed pace that is unlike anywhere else I've stayed (Disney or otherwise).

I guess it makes sense that this forum would embody much of those same qualities.

Just thought I would share that observation here, and say "Thanks" to all of you who participate and make this a great example of a great forum on the DIS.

Pete

Welcome Pete!

That's all it takes. One visit and your hooked.

We were in Disneyland this Christmas and both my DDs are wanting to know when we're going back to the Fort. There is just something about the Fort that makes a Disney trip even more magical.

Campers in general are a friendly bunch of folk no matter where you're camping. The Fort is just a really cool place to mix and mingle.

Don't forget to say hi to the otters when you walk by River Country!

And at the Fort and on these camp'n boards, those wonderful qualities are even more magnified in these fine folks we refer to as fiends. What a great buncha folk they are ! :thumbsup2

Thanks for letting our group know how appreciated we are. I think we have a great bunch of people around here.

Welcome to the addiction of going to the Fort. :thumbsup2

I saw about 20 fishing boats in the Niagara River this morning and thought about you.

Rog you crack me up, not just A webmaster but THE webmaster, the one who started it all.. Glad to see you visit the Camping board Pete.

I agree. In general campers are a friendly bunch of folks. This group is no exception. They are also helpful and hilarious...encouraging, honest, insightful, resourceful, talented, accepting, caring...I could go on and on.

Wow, I feel like we all have been knighted somehow....

or maybe just hit on the head with a sword...:lmao:

Thanks for "stopping by" Pete! AND...a huge thanks for all you do to provide this great little place we all call the DIS.:thumbsup2

Glad to see you have discovered the great outdoors. Now you need to try a little thing we call RV'ing...;)

Well, even getting hit in the head with the sword you get noticed. :lmao:

Pete, you might like the Fort now, but by the end of your next trip, you will LOVE the Fort. We are long-time DVC members, but we would rather stay at the Fort than any place else! I have learned so much by visiting this board...the Camping DISers are the best!

By the way, I love the podcast!

Ditto and you can't find a better group of folks willing to help each other than folks that camp/RV whatever.

Pete - You and Walter have to come back to the Fort soon! Better yet, bring the whole podcast crew to FW and let's have a party. Labor Day would be a great weekend. ;) (Yes, I'll be there, but I'm guessing lots of the usual Fort Fiends will be there then too.)

This site is really great. Thanks for everything you do - both with the boards and with the podcast - all is great!:thumbsup2

You know, I read threads like this and it makes me think about beer. But then, just about everything makes me think about beer. In Germany, beer is considered a food. That says a lot for my ancestors. I mean, you gotta admire a group of people who think that much of beer. I went to a local restaurant tonight and had a Labatt's. Those Canadians can make a good beer. I don't know if it's the cold weather or the fresh water or what, but their beer is good. What the heck were we talking about?
