A new muster drill procedure on Royal. Could DCL adopt it as well?

They/we were testing this on SY back in January (which feels like a lifetime ago now) and it was so good I didnt think it was actually going to happen.

It wasn't all finalised so I dont know the in's and outs but what we were told is much better than the old way. The video is done on the app or tv so its linked to the room/account. It's not one long video so you cant play and then go chill on your balcony, you had to press 'next' every so often, so, imo, there will be some people who pay more attention to this than traditional drill.
When you go to your muster station there are a number of people there to check you in and answer questions, and a youth staff to make sure all kids have their emergency bracelet and answer any YEP questions.
Captain will still sound 7 short 1 long prior to sail away, probably on the 'drill ending and leaving the dock' announcement.

As for the lifejackets, royal took them out of rooms ages ago for a number of reasons: doesn't encourage people to back into a possible danger zone, the corridors are narrow so stops people pushing each other as the rush/panic in opposite directions, leads to potentially less confused/lost guests, stops people putting lifejackets on inside which in some cases can also cause more damage.
(If I ever get my cruise on DCL and we have to muster, I wouldn't bother going for my lifejacket as I know they have to provide you with one at your MS anyway)

Anyway, I was quite sceptical at first, especially after reading years of comment on these boards, but if it goes ahead its definitely an improvement! (Even though it would make my drill, as YS a lot easier, but probably about 20x longer)

Great point about making people press a "next" button. Then people would have to actively choose not to watch, rather than just get it over with.

And those that actively choose not to watch are probably the ones who actively choose not to watch/listen at traditional drills...
