WHY? I always wonder what people do next when they come up with these ideas. I mean, how is he going to get his son to college? Perhaps he should have also cleared it with the school. What ever happened to kids riding the school bus?
Dad Takes Son to School in Helicopter
CLERMONT, Fla. (Aug. 29) - The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a helicopter ride that a central Florida father arranged for his teenager's first day of school.
According to a Lake County Sheriff's Office report, Bart Sutherin flew his 14-year-old son, Joseph, to his first day of classes at East Ridge High School in a rented blue-and-white Hughes 300 helicopter this week.

Sutherin landed the helicopter safely behind some portable classrooms on the east side of the campus, but he didn't clear the flight with the Lake County school district officials and sheriff's office first.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Sutherin told officials that he wanted to "make a positive impression on the other students" on his son's first day of ninth grade. The newspaper reports a deputy called the FAA after Sutherin's flight.
Although the FAA still is looking into the matter, an official said Sutherin likely isn't in trouble because he landed the aircraft safely and "in accordance with the Federal Aviation Regulations."

Wow, just wow. Making a good impression?

Yeah, let us tell your classmates that I think so little of you that I think you have to have daddy show off so people will like you.

somehow I don't think this will make the impression on the kids that the father thought it would! In fact, it will probably make it worse for the kid!

Hilarious! I suppose it's better than being drunk all the time and never giving his son any attention. Maybe.

You have a point. At least he is trying.

Live and let live. Maybe the dad was beat up on his first day. :confused3
I'm sure all the 9th grade boys thought it was totally cool.

As for getting his son to college, perhaps he'll do what some of the students at my DD's college do - they don't fly commercial, they go by private planes!
