A Mousekafreak and her DH do the World! ~*~COMPLETE 8-31~*~

I am truly enjoying your trip report. It makes me feel like I was with you on your trip. Can't wait to read more! pirate:

Act Seven:
Scene One:
Location: Magic Kingdom, California Grill

The day dawned sunny and warm and we were thrilled. We headed over to Magic Kingdom early and got there right in time for the Main Street Trolley Show. I’ve never actually scene this live. When I was younger our neighbors had the Sing-a-long from Magic Kingdom that included this show on the tape so I had seen it there, and I found it interesting that the soundtrack is the same… The dancers weren’t singing at all, it was totally recorded and was the same recording from the mid-90’s movie. Usually the dancers at least sing along with the track recording, but not today! They were barely mouthing the words. I had a little giggle to myself. There was a Photopass Photographer there so we posed in front of the trolley and had a few pictures snapped before moving to the castle for some more prime photography spots.

Then it was off to ride Buzz Lightyear and grab Chris a Fastpass for Space Mountain before heading into Fantasyland to hit up those rides once again. We rode Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, Cinderella’s Golden Carousel, Snow White and caught Philharmagic before heading over to Peter Pan…to find it closed for a repair. So, we grabbed Fastpasses for later in the day and decided to have an early lunch at Pinocchio’s Village Haus so Chris could get his own Figaro Fries since he kept eating mine on our first Magic Kingdom day. We both got the fries and Mickey rice krispies and then decided to go on Small World in hopes that Peter Pan would be open again when we were finished. Mary Blair is my idol and I love the refurbishment to the ride. The ride itself will forever creep me out, but the paint treatments and design are phenomenal.

As luck would have it Peter Pan was opened by the time we were finished and the line was already an hour wait. Good thing we had Fastpasses! We showed them to the CM and got in line. And this is where we experienced our most un-Disney moment of the trip. A gentleman waiting in the standby line with his family spotted Chris and I walking up the ramp with our Fastpasses, points at us and loudly exclaims to everyone waiting that it is “absolutely ridiculous that they allow people without children to use Fastpass.” No joke. I was floored. First off, it wasn’t like they were out of them, there was nothing stopping him from using one too. Second, why make a comment like that? What good will it do? I chose not to let it get to me, too much, and moved on to enjoy my favorite Fantasyland ride. But still, how uncalled for. Grrr….

From there it was off to the Haunted Mansion where I was pleasantly surprised to find that Madame Leota’s head was once again working in her Crystal Ball. Did you guys know that the Leota Toombs was an Imagineer who was asked to stand in as the head so they could work out the effects on the crystal ball? She was so good that they decided to record her for real and use her in the permanent production. She worked in the Imagineering costuming department and was responsible for many of the animatronics pieces we still see today. Just a little bit of Disney Imagineering History for everyone to enjoy.

Then it was off to Frontierland to conquer a couple of mountains. By now it was HOT and we were grateful for our DVC passes so we hopped right in the fastpass line for Splash Mountain. Just a tip, if you don’t want to get very wet sit on the right side of the log. The left side gets spit on by the frogs as you float through…hehehe, I knew this but Chris didn’t… Then it was off to Big Thunder Mountain. I passed this time so Chris grabbed a Fastpass and jumped in line. Even with the FP it seemed to take forever for him to come through the mountain. Maybe it seemed so long because it was hotter than it had been the entire trip. He finally came around the bend and I managed to snap a picture of him as he went by. Then it was time for a Mickey Bar!

After our yummy ice cream we headed into Adventureland and took a picture of the Pirates sign since we weren’t going to get to ride it. Oh well. Since that was pretty much all we did in Adventureland I feel it necessary to tell a funny story about my trip with my mom and sister back in 1999, right after I graduated High School. As I have stated before I do not enjoy drops. At all. So, we hop on the ride and as we approached the drop I mention it to my mom. I believe I said something along the lines of, “I’m glad this drop is little. In Disneyland there are two.” To which my mom says, and I will remember this forever, “Oh Lin, didn’t you know? They refurbished this one a year or so ago and made the drop much bigger at the guests request.” I don’t know why but I believed her and just as we went over I screamed, threw my head forward and whacked it into the seat in front of me. Hard. It really hurt. To this day my mom tells this story every time we plan a trip or talk about a trip. Anyway, I just thought I would share.

From here we decided to head back to Tomorrowland so Chris could ride Space Mountain, then we did Buzz a few more times. Did you know that if you kiss in the picture (just a little peck) Zurg will zap your picture? Stupid Zurg. Then it was time to snag a spot for the Share A Dream Parade since we had missed it the first go around. There was an unoccupied Photopass Photographer at the Wishing Well on the walkway and he took some awesome pictures of Chris and I, and we got some awesome shots of the castle too. Then we grabbed a PowerAde and found a spot just to the left of the walkway to hang out until parade time.

People were just lining up and we got to watch all the little activities the cast members do to keep the kids occupied while they wait. It was cute. They also brought out the talking trashcan, who I had never seen before, and it was great. I was glad to have finally caught him. Then the parade began and I determined that I had found the best place ever to see a parade.

Then we shopped all the way up Mainstreet before heading back to the resort to get ready for our California Grill ADR at 7:20 that evening.

Act Seven:
Scene Two:

After packing, taking a quick nap, showering and prettying up for dinner we headed over to Magic Kingdom to hop the Monorail to the Contemporary for dinner. We arrived with plenty of time to make our ADR and after checking in we were immediately escorted up the elevator to California Grill. We were seating almost immediately at the most perfect table imaginable. It was one of those moments where as the Hostess leads you away from the check in stand you spy a table and hope for it, but know you won’t get it, until that’s where you wind up. We were seated against the window with a perfect view of Magic Kingdom.

The whole experience was a little surreal. We ordered our drinks and as we waited for them to arrive I spent several moments just gazing around at the atmosphere, the clientele, the wait staff…it was all so pristine. Our waitress arrived with the menus and explained them to us then gave us a couple of minutes to look them over. I can’t remember her name, but she was wonderful. Chris decided on the Triple Cheese Flatbread and I got the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli to start and we both had the Oak-Fired Beef Filet for our entrée. Chris’ flatbread was enough for a meal in itself and we only ate a little of it even though it was very tasty. My ravioli was delicious. It was creamy and just the right size for an appetizer. I highly recommend it to anyone going. Then the filets arrived and they were perfectly cooked with wonderful sides of potatoes and green beans. The potatoes were the creamiest I have ever had and had a wonderful flavor, I only had a few of the green beans (saving room for dessert) but they were tasty.

We ate our meal very slowly; both to savor the flavor, enjoy the meal and take in the sunset over Magic Kingdom. It wasn’t hard to eat slow as it is at many places. The wait staff encourages you to take your time and stops by often to inquire about the meal and what they can do to make it better for you. We finished with our entrees around 9 and ordered dessert. I had the Bananas and Butterscotch Buzz and Chris had the Chocolate Cake with Sorbet. Mine looked great but in reality was just okay…something about it was a little to strange for me. In retrospect I wish I had ordered the Strawberries Forever Cheesecake. But, they get an A++ for presentation on this one. Chris’s cake was great but not big enough to really share. I had an Amaretto Sour with dessert and it was perfection. We also had a nice view of the Water Parade from our table.

When we were finished with dessert there was still about 25 minutes until Wishes and the waitress told us we were welcome to stay at our table, but after one glance at the waiting area we decided to give up the table and head out to the observation deck to watch from there. We put some change in the telescope and I found that I could actually watch the Spectromagic parade from up there, which was very neat. The observation deck was pretty full of people by the time the fireworks started but it was great. The fireworks from there are unique. They appear to be going off over Space Mountain more than Cinderella’s Castle. I definitely prefer to watch them from Magic Kingdom but this was a wonderful experience and the best food of the entire trip.

Following Wishes we made our way back to the Monorail to Magic Kingdom to catch the final Spectromagic parade at 11:00. We also decided that we were in need of some Gold Mickey Ears. We got our ears took some pictures and then grabbed a seat on the concrete in front of the hat store on Mainstreet. The park was pretty empty by this time and there was not a crowd for the parade. We had no problem seeing and getting some pictures, but unfortunately our camera does not take great night pictures. Boo. After the parade we said goodbye to Magic Kingdom with promises to return soon and headed back to the bus stop and back to Old Key West one last time.

Act Eight:
Scene One:

We had to be at the Magical Express Check-In waaaay to early the next morning. We grabbed a breakfast croissant at Good’s To Go and walked around the grounds one last time before heading to the bus stop to await Magical Express. The bus picked us and a couple of other people up at OKW and then headed to Saratoga Springs. The bus ride was nice and quiet. It was early and everyone was sad to be heading home after their vacations. I’ll admit it, I cried.

We arrived at Orlando International and headed in to go find our gate. On the way we stopped by the World of Disney shop to get some more postcards and that was that. We checked in at the gate and did some Soduko while waiting to board. The flight was uneventful and my mom and sister picked us up at the airport when we got back to Dallas.

Great trippie! It is sad when it ends, it me helps if there's another one at least in the works though :sunny:

I came across your trip report tonight and I have to tell you that I loved every chapter. You did a wonderful job writing it and your trip sounds like the perfect vacation to me.

I throughly enjoyed your TR. I cannot believe that guy said something to you while in the fast pass line for Peter Pan. It is one of my favorite rides, and my DH and I have no kids either yet. I am glad you had a great time and did not let a little rain stand in your way!

Chris just finished reading this and reminded me of another funny incident that occured on our last Magic Kingdom day. Rather than edit my report I'll just add it here.

When we were coming out of Pinoccio's after lunch he stopped dead in his tracks and pointed down at this womans feet. She was wearing 2-3 inch platform sandals with a walking cast on her foot! I almost died! I get wanting to look cute I guess, but my gosh! I bet she regretted that move later on...

I'm glad you all enjoyed the report. This was my first attempt to write one and I really enjoyed doing so.

Just finished your trip report. I loved it. Thank you very much for sharing!

Just finished your trip report, Lin!!! Loved it!!! :sunny:
