Just curious - was DVC one of the earliest points-based timeshares?

It was one of them but not the earliest. Wyndham (then called Fairfield) had a points program before DVC, and I believe there was at least one other in the U.S. There was a points-based timeshare system in Europe for years before any in the U.S. - I want to say it was Hapimag, but I may be wrong about that.

Hapimag is generally credited with the origin of timeshares in the early 60's in Europe. Some also credit them with the origin of the points system but I think most credit what is now VRI as the origin of both timesharing in the US (HI) and points systems.
