A moment of Remebrance

Today, after my normal rants on the DL board, and my business dealings, I happened upon a fact that shook my world. Two days ago Ward Kimball passed away.

The gentleman didn't live to be 93, as his most famous creation Jiminy Cricket used to sing, but rather passed peacefully at age 88. Very few newspapers even carried his obituaries, and it wasn't mentioned anywhere on TV. At least I believed that he would be respectfully remembered on Disney.com, as he was such a huge part of the Disney Legacy. I mean, if he hadn't turned Walt on to trains, where would the theme parks be today? Every Disney fan knows about those backyard trains that inspired so much of Disneyland. It seems as if these great legends of the past have simply been reduced to fodder for short behind the scenes featurettes of the work, toil, and long nights that they put into their characters. But I digress.

Ward created so much of what we now know as "Disney." Though everyone knew that he was rather blunt, and meant what he said, he was always warm and charasmatic, if not a bit quiet.

I ask for you all to take a moment today and remember Ward. I know I will.

All my best
~Tina

This post was the first I heard about it. I too would have expected at least a mention on the news. (of course, not being a big tv watcher - maybe just missed it) my dd is a huge Jiminy fan. Thanks for letting us know.
