Going : Myself and GF (Or should that be expressed as DGF?)
Duration : 11 Nights (Sept 13th - 25th)
Reason (if you need one) : To be out of the UK for when I turn 30.

I do not plan/book holidays months ahead of time – well, at most three. This holiday was supposed to include a Disney cruise and immersion in WDW Resort hotels, but I kept waiting for AP rates to be announced. Of course, they never were for the duration of my holiday.

I was intending on postponing until early 2004, but the GF had booked the time of work and persuaded me that be both deserved a break.

Over the first few days of September I sat in front of my computer for many hours. I secured a fly-drive package with Virgin. Not a great ‘deal’, but I wanted to fly direct for 11 days duration and the choices were few.

Accommodation – hmm… I used priceline last year and had been happy with the hotel and price, so why not…?

For those thinking about using priceline, do your homework. Visit hotwire.com, biddingfortravel, etc and learn how it works. Also, I tend to book short stays, 3 nights. That way if the hotel isn’t great then you aren’t stuck there for your entire holiday!

By the end of an hour of bidding and head scratching I had ‘won’ WDW Hilton at £30 night and Renaissance Resort (SeaWorld) for £40 night. We planned to visit my parents at their condo near St Petes for a couple of days. So to finish the holiday we needed four nights somewhere…

We wanted to stay in a Disney Resort hotel, but wanted to keep the cost down, so a Moderate resort was chosen, but which one? Much thumbing through Passporter, reading DIS and RADP – the GF settled on the Coronado Springs Resort. Appeared to be a good choice. This was booked via Disney’s website.

All booked! No countdown timer for me – didn’t seem worth it as we would be going in 7 days!

>> 6 Days Later….

Arrived home at 8.00pm. Strangely, I did not feel in ‘vacation’ mood. I guess it was the last minute nature of this holiday… Or maybe the fact I had loaned my car to a company director, only to discover that he had placed his previous vehicle on its roof…

Packing involved throwing items of clothing into our new suitcases. I confess, it was a botch-job – why did I put a pair of dress trousers and three smart shirts in? What compelled me to include three novels? Towels???

A last minute run to Tesco’s to find something quick to eat and grab last minute items preceded two hours sat in front of the television before finally calling it a night.

Can't wait for the trip reports.

What a great rate for both those resorts!

It is great to be able to make (almost) last minute trips! And I really need to get to grips with priceline - thanks for the tips on this.
