A Merry Mickey Christmas ~ Day 14

We had a leisurely start today with a bit of a lie-in followed by a couple of hours lazing round the pool reading.

We arrived at the Yacht Club around 1pm but our room wasn't ready so we set off for Epcot.

Danielle and Francesca fancied fish and chips so Bryan, Samantha and I left them in the UK and headed for Morocco as we fancied trying the Tangierine Cafe. Bryan and I both had a chicken and lamb combo platter and Samantha had a chicken wrap but we were all very disappointed. The lamb was quite nice but none of us cared for the chicken - it was much too greasy for us. Never mind though, this is the first time any of us have been disappointed with a meal at any Disney park so not bad going. Danielle and Francesca found us - and also found us wishing we'd had fish and chips with them!

We wandered through Morocco and as it was getting very hot went in the American Adventure to watch the show which we'd never seen before. Afterwards we had an ice-cream then bought some more lucky cats in Japan - Danielle has every colour now!

Then we made our way back to the Yacht Club to see if our room was ready. It was and yay, we'd been given a lovely view. This was our first time in a Disney hotel and I got very excited at all the hidden Mickey touches!

We had an ADR at Chef Mickey's for this evening but Samantha was feeling ill so decided to have a sleep. Danielle and Francesca also decided to take a nap so Bryan and I left to explore the hotel and, more importantly, Stormalong Bay. Neither of us fancied a swim as the water wasn't as warm as the Comfort Suites but we relaxed on a lounger with our books for a couple of hours - there was only one other lady there and it was very quiet and peaceful.

When we got back to our room, Samantha wasn't feeling any better and decided to give Chef Mickey's a miss. I think perhaps we're fated not to go there as on our last holiday we had to cancel because Francesca was poorly but Samantha was adamant that she wanted us to still go so that she could have some peace and quiet - at least we knew she could contact us on our mobiles if she needed to.

We walked to Epcot then took the monorail to TTC then to the Contemporary where we had a quick look round before it was time to check in at Chef Mickey's.

The food was lovely especially the desserts.

We were visited by the Fab Five several times.

After we'd finished we browsed in the shop then caught the monorail back to Epcot arriving there about 10pm. It had stupidly never once occurred to us to check the closing time for Epcot and this is where we became unstuck because apparently it had been 9pm and we couldn't get in!! Massive crowds were exiting after IllumiNations and we hoped a CM would let us in but no such luck. We had to wait half an hour for a security official to come and sanction our entry but this was so worth it as we had the whole park to ourselves. What a treat walking through with no one else there! As you can imagine we didn't hurry!

We had to laugh because when we got to the international gateway there was a group outside waiting for security to come so they could walk the opposite way!

Bryan and I had always intended to head over to Magic Kingdom to see the rehearsal for tomorrow night's Fantasy in the Sky fireworks but it was now so late we'd have had to take the car and we weren't sure we'd make it there in time so we decided not to bother. We were relieved to find Samantha was feeling much better - she'd had a good sleep and then sat on the balcony to watch IllumiNations so I didn't feel too guilty about her missing out on the meal.

I did think of you that day. In fact if we'd been staying in a MK hotel I might have been tempted to come and sneak a peek at you arriving although, seeing as we'd not actually met then, you might have wondered who I was!
