My friend who is going with me to Disney took a pregnancy test Tuesday night and it was positive!! We leave on June 11th for our Girls only trip (with our daughters). Are there any rides she should stay clear of?? She was not planning to ride RnR Coaster,ToT, Mission Space, Body Wars or Soarin' before pregnancy.
Any additional adivce from those who went to Disney "a little pregnant" would be appreciated :flower:

I went to Disney when I was about 8 weeks pregnant. I stayed clear of any ride that had a pregnancy "restriction". Most are posted, or you can ask a CM. (all the ones you mentioned, plus Safari ride, Dinosaur, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, etc . .) To me, it wasn't worth risking anything, especiall that early on in pregnancy for a 5 minute thrill. Disney will always be there!

Some advice - I got very lightheaded a couple times on the attractions where they push you together in line to fit everyone in (Bug's Life, Little Mermaid, etc . . ) Just try to keep some breathing room around you and drink plenty of fluids, even when you aren't thirsty. Also, try to eat small snacks throughout the day. That seemed to help too.

Other than that - have a great time with the girls!!!

Of course ask a doctor first, but We found out we were pregnant at Disney, (6 wks along, at the end of our trip)...so i rode all the rides unsuspecting all week...at the end of our trip, i felt very strange, and I don't know why but pregnancy popped into my head, i took a test and low and behold..it was positive..I was a little concerned about all the riding we had done, considering we had also done Univeral Islands of Adventure. But the doctor assured me that everything was fine.
Moral of the Story: Go, have fun, have your friend talk to her doctor..see what he thinks sounds like she didn't want to go on too many extreme rides anyway.
Keep hydrated!!
and have fun!!!!

Hope that helped a little.

I went to WDW 8 weeks pregnant. My biggest concern was feeling sick, as pregnancy makes me sick as a dog 24/7. My Dr. gave me Zofran for the constant vommiting, but when at WDW I didn't need it. I felt so good just being there. :cool1: Being home was another story.

My Dr. told me I could do anything I felt up to at the time. The baby was so small no ride could hurt it. I did Dinosour and Misson Space with my DN who wanted to ride with me. All the rest that might be supsect I skipped, mostly because I didn't feel like riding them. I also did the safari ride at AK.

My friend who went with us found out she was pregnant the day she left to join us, so she was 4 weeks, I was 8. (this was Jan 200 4) March 2005 we had another group trip, this time with a 7 month old and 6 months old with us too! (in addtion to the 2 four year olds.)

Tell your friend to drink lots of water and don't over do it. Don't get over heated and have a great time.

Thanks for the great suggestions!! I think she has her "nurses" visit set for next week...so hopefully she will be able to talk to them a little then. She really wants to do Splash Mtn...but figured she would wait til we get there to see how she feels. This is #3 for her...so she know the "routine" :flower:

Not sure how she is doing in the morning sickness catagory, but when I went to WDW a little bit pregnant I carried zip lock baggies with me to um.... er.... well barf in, as needed. I got pretty good at being discrete about it, and towards the end of the trip, I could turn, barf, zip without loosing a step.

I rode everything.... but paid the price by filling zip lock baggies.... :rotfl2:

I went in January when I was (unwittingly) about 2 weeks pregnant. Oh, I went on EVERYTHING....I got VERY sick after going on the Hulk rollercoaster at Universal....I was nauseous (sp?) for the rest of that day and on the plane ride home the next day. I'm now in my 20th week, just had an ultrasound on Tuesday and my little bean is PERFECT!! I don't know that the rides will hurt anything that early on, but like I said, I was VERY VERY nauseous. If I did it over and knew ahead of time, I wouldn't go on anything that would be considered "herky-jerky".

I found out I was pregnant last Memorial Day. I went to WDW a week later. I was so terribly sick, I hardly rode any rides at all. My drs. office advised me to stay away from coasters/free fall/bouncy rides. I followed their advice to the letter b/c I didn't want anything to come back to haunt me.
I hope your friend has a better trip than I did. I was too sick for the first three months to do much of anything.

When I was approx. 15 wks pg., I fell down a flight of icy stairs :sad2: (yes, ambulance was called & I was badly banged up). I was so broken hearted and upset and went to the Emergency Room that night. Basically, there was nothing they could do except wait :earseek: . The next day, I called my ob/gyn. She said that if there were no "spotting/bleeding" there was nothing to worry about. She basically said that in the beginning stages of pg, your baby is sooooooo protected she said "like it is in its own bubble wrap" and if a problem were to occur, you would know right away.

Speak with your dr. if they don't have a problem with it, you will be fine. I would use caution on the especially "jarring" rides though...to be on the safe side! :flower:

I was there when I was like 6 wks a long and road everything. I didn't know untill later that I was pregnant. The Dr. said nothing to worry about at that point.

I've been to WDW twice while pregnant. With my first I was there when I was 7 months along and rode everything that didn't have a warning about riding while expecting, with my second just last May 2004 I was about 13 weeks along and again I just rode everything that didn't have a warning, took lots of breaks, and ate and drank regularly and I had a great time, no problems at all.

I was about 12 weeks pregnant with DS#2 for one of our WDW trips. I asked my OB and she said I could ride any ride I wanted to with no restrictions. I rode Test Track and Space Mountain with no problems. I really didn't look pregnant, so no one questioned me. I figured if my OB said it was ok and I wanted to, I was going to do it.

The worst part of the trip was that I had morning sickness really bad (I had it for 7 months -- ugh) and got tired easily, but other than that, I had a great trip!

I wouldn't skip Soarin' unless motion sickness is an issue. It's a pretty gentle ride!

I went at 20 weeks last November and had a great time. My advice is to make sure you take a afternoon break/nap. It got me through! I also had a 19 month with me so taking naps was a priority! At least when I am 8 weeks pregnant, I am sooooo tired. Listen to your body!
