Just wanted to ask everyone to remember the DCL crew members who have family in Ivan's path in their prayers. There are many on board from areas like Jamaica who have family members directly in the path of the storm. When we left, many had still been unable to contact their loved ones to find out if they were okay. They do such a super job of making our vacations great. On this trip, I know that many were worried, but they still kept that great attitude. They deserve special recognition. :D

Barb...I was just saying last night how worried Monica from Jamaica (our stateroom host) in room 5520 and Clive from Jamaica our server must be and how I pray their families are safe. The not knowing must be getting the best of them.

Barb thanks for reminding us to include them in our prayers, still praying for sophie too.

Dear Barb,

In over 4 years on these boards, I have always been amazed at how you keep "your eye on the ball" and steer all to what is truly important!! Thank you, again, for this expression of compassion for the DCL crew whose families/friends may have been impacted by these many storms. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope you had a great time on your latest adventure.

Actually, realizing the dangers they faced really put things in perspective for me. I was a little miffed about the four-hour drive to the port, but once on board and seeing crew members from the areas affected, I got to thinking about how it must be for them. I was unhappy about a change in my vacation plans due to the hurricane, but they were in fear for their homes and the lives of their family members! It really made me thing about what is truly important.

Barb - you brought up a point that some of us were making from day 1. That many of the castmembers were dealing with the hurricane as well. Be it a CM on board from one of the islands being hit, to the CM's from the port who were dealing with their own homes being trashed.

Each cruise I have been on one of my service team was from Jamaica. I have been praying for their families all weekend.

Barb, thank you for reminding us.

Dear Lord, watch over us all.
Amen

Joanna, when did you last sail with Clive? We were under the impression that he was going to try to get a job and be off the ship by May '04 to be with his wife and new son. If he's still on the ship I'll send him an email to let him know he's in our thoughts and prayers.

He is still on the ship, We had him last week on the 10 night Western. Can you please send me his e mail address?

Thanks
Joanna

We will be leaving 9/25 magic-western. I will print this out & take it with me for all the CMs to see. I think they would love to know so many are praying for them & their families. I know how scary it is when you can't be with family in a crisis. Let's all remember how we felt on 9/11. The out pouring of prayers from people all over the world meant so much. I wonder if the CMs realize how special they are to those traveling. They are so much more than staff members. On every thread someone mentions their servers or room attendants. In every trip report, there are pictures of servers. Being a 1st time cruiser, I asked myself, "Why is that so?" Then I realized, they are so special to us because they make us feel so special. To all CM, we thank you for EVERYTHING! You are in our prayers.
