I promised myself I was not going to over plan this time or stress out over any decisions for this trip but I have come to a fork in the road and could use some sound advice.:)

My husband and I are going to DW in 18 days to celebrate our 5th Anniversary. I am a Disney Nut - He could take it or leave it but is excited about the F&WF. We only have four days and are arriving early Oct 7th. I had tried to get PS for CRT but of course no such luck for me. And yes, I was on the fone at 6:55 a.m. And I have called a few times looking for a cancellation but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. So, in the meantime I made PS for Chef Mickey's because I've never been there and we've been to Crystal Palace twice and I really want to see Mickey. However I have been reading reviews that the food is not that good and now I'm wondering if I shouldn't try for a PS at Kona Cafe instead because my husband would appreciate good food more than Mickey (that's hard to say):)

So, would it be a hassel going to Kona? I wasn't planning on checking into BWV until lunch time and we were going to go to MK after breakfast. What do you think?

Hi! It seems that it would be just as easy to go to the Poly for breakfast at Kona as it would be to go to the Contemporary for Chef Mickey's. They're both on the monorail line, so you can just head to MK as soon as you finish eating. Your husband would probably enjoy the food at Kona much more, but you wouldn't get to see Mickey. :( I guess that's the deciding factor - whether to go for the food or to see Mickey. I know which I would choose, if I could only do one, but I think seeing Mickey is much more important than any meal! ::yes::

So you will be driving to MK? Parking at TTC right? Then you can walk from TTC to Poly and then you have the choice of taking resort monorail or boat to MK. Very easy!

I haven't tried Kona for breakfast but have heard great things. You could also consider OHana for breakfast and get to see Mickey. The meal is preplated like CRT and the food is just as good-includes Mickey waffles. I haven't tried Chef Mickeys because I think my DH would think it was too loud.

Congrats on 5 years! We will be celebrating 20 next week with the real celebration at WDW in Oct. My DH isn't a WDW nut either and I'm hoping this trip will convert him. I think you'll love the Food & Wine Fest!

See there, I did not even think of parking at TTC, are there signs to lead me to that parking lot? That is a GREAT idea.

I think we will go to Kona because we've never even been to Poly before and we both like good food:). I've heard outstanding things. They do have real coffee here though don't they, if my husband even suspects Nescafe he would freak:) Thank you very much for the suggestion.

It will just mean I will have to see Mickey in the parks. I just can't wait!

Well, I've never parked at TTC but when you get to the ticket booths don't go through the gates instead stick to left-there is a path to the Poly. I don't remember if there were signs...

You do know that OHana is at the Poly too. For breakfast it is a preplated character meal with Mickey, Chip, Dale and Goofy. But honestly the food sounds better at Kona and I would probably try that. I'm hoping to convert my DH into a Disney nut by feeding him very well while we are there. And hoping that our children's (DD-5, DS-3, DD-1) pure joy will go a long way toward converting him too! Go check out the menus on allearsnet.com. I've read great things about the Tonga Toast. I may have to get some for takeout or even have a breakfast there even though we're staying concierge!

There were 6 aldults, no children when we dined at Chef Mickey's last year and we all loved it. Kona Cafe is one of our favorite places for breakfast, we eat there at least a couple of times on every trip. There Tonga Toast and Omelets are very good.

Trust me, enough mornings of concierge toast, danish and oatmeal and you'll be READY for a nice sit-down breakfast ;)

Wanted to thank everyone for takin the time to send their opinions and I wanted to Congratulate lovesdumbo on 20 years:) It must seem silly to get excited about 5 but I really am blessed with a wonderful husband and I just can't help it.

Thought I'd let you know (more because I'm excited than anything else:) that I had PS for Kona and kept it for about a week before I was on the phone rescheduling for Ohana I just can't stand the thought of passing up a chance to see Mickey and we still get to visit the Poly. I'm so excited.

Best wishes to every one.

Glad you went with 'Ohana for breakfast. We ate here 9/17, character interaction was wonderful. Wait 'til you see Mickey in his Hawaiin shirt!.

Plenty of food - my favorite thing is the delicious pineapple bread they give you to start (try it even if you don't like pineapple!). Extra note: tell them you want your eggs well done, our scrambles were a little on the runny side.

They have photographers set up in the lobby to have your picture taken at the 'Ohana sign (not with the characters, but would still be a nice shot of the two of you!).

Good choice!
