My family and I stayed on site at the Polynesian Resort back in Nov. 2008 and loved it, And LOVED all the extras you get by staying on site... But we are planing a trip this Nov. with another family, And planing to stay OFF site in a rental home...
My question is can you get any of the extras(Dining Plan, Extra Park hours) when staying off site????? If not any tips for a group of 4 adults,& 4 kids to stay on site for 8 days with-out BREAKING THE BANK??????? THANKS!!!!

Welcome to the DIS! I cannot answer your question, but I am sure someone will know! :)

When staying off site, you do not get the opportunity to purchase the dining plan or using extra magic hours.

If you choose to consider staying on site, it sometimes is less expensive booking hotel and park tickets separately. You may be able to take advantage of some current significant room discounts, but you can't get the dining plan.

Without getting into too much detail, try pricing your room, tickets, and dining a la carte, then compare to a package price. Finally, don't be afraid to enlist the help of a certified Disney travel agent.

We stay offsite @ WH when we have a large group. It's great to have the extra space. Last trip we booked a 4 bedroom house that had 2 master suites which was great since we had two adult couples with 3 kids. One thing that helped immensely was that I bought an AP and a TIW card. That gave us free parking and 20% off drinks and meals. For a 10 day stay, my AP ended up costing me <$50 when you factor in all the savings.

Even though you don't get "free dining" or the DDP or EMH--I think you can make up the lost benefits thru real money savings and good planning.:wizard:

Good luck in planning your trip.:goodvibes

:welcome: to the DIS!

When you stay off site you do not get the advantages of the dining plans or Extra Magic Hours. You may still use park to park & park to resort transportation.

The number of people in your group could fit into any 2 standard rooms at Disney. Depending on the what your sleep situations are and the number of beds you need you could do anything from a value to a 2bdrm villa. I don't know what the cost of staying off site is, but perhaps even 3 rooms at a value with out needing a rental car would be comparable?

It would also depend on if you just go to a room to shower and sleep or if you'd like to enjoy some time together, cook meals, etc.

HTH! :wizard:

I have found that with the current room discount Disney is allowing them to be turned into a package allowing the purchase of tickets and dining plan while keeping the % off on the room.
