A Little Help, Please

I'm new at this, so please don't make fun of me.

My problem is that I'm going on a Disney Cruise (not allowed to say which one), and I want to make some new friends. I'm even signed up for the teen program. But my problem is that I'm wicked shy, and I have a really hard time talking to people. My friends tell me to just be myself, but it's harder for me than it seems. Does anyone have any tips for being more outgoing? Thanks in advanced.

I've never been on a Disney Cruise so I don't know much but like EeyoreFan1 said just say hi. Maybe u will find someone who is also shy like u!!!

I'd say you should just walk up and say hi like the others said, most people I've met on the DCL are nice and friendly.

um, well I will be going on a Disney cruise soon. I dont really know why you can't say which one you are going on, but Okay. I will be on the one leaving on August 17th. And don't understand how you signed up for the "teen program" from what I know you just go, unless you mean in like the ports and stuff. But basically on the cruises if you go to the events like the first night where you meet everyone then Im sure you will be fine. I mean it's just like if you were to go to camp and make friends only your on a boat with people that love Disney. So I say go to all the programs they have for teens that you are interested and just have fun. And if by chance you are on the cruise I am, I'm sure I will talk to you. Just have fun and people will be drawn to you!

honestly. i have no idea how many people started convo's like that. if they say something like New York, say they're a guy ask them: Who's better? The Mets or the Yankees?

just LISTEN to what they answer you with & continue off of that & be yourself. it's like conducting an interview, to get good questions & a good conversation, you've got to listen.

dont worry i am shy tooo when i go on cruises usually i dont really meet people because i like to spend the time with my family but a tip i do have that i use when i might be embarrassed about something is that YOU WILL NEVER SEE THESE PEOPLE AGAIN so take the chance...if they think that you are weird, so what, if you are nervous, dont be because if you make a fool of yourself thats okay. but if it does work you can see this person again or talk to them lol

oo also sometimes someone might come up to you, like one time a girl came up to me to ask if i wanted to play ping pong with her because we both didnt have ppl to play with. i had made a friend for the day without even doing anything lol
