My best advice for NIP at Disney when you're worried about it....

DON"T sit in China at Epcot's WS at night loving the dark and quiet without first paying attention to what time the Acrobat show will be
There are some BRIGHT LIGHTS that happen FAST when it's time!!

In all honesty, I found it soooo simple to NIP at Disney. There are MANY out of the way spots, and SOOOO many dark (not really quiet, but my babes didn't seem to mind) rides! They always nursed and fell right asleep

Have a great time, and don't worry. Not many people ever knew what I was doing, and the ones that did were very supportive!!

Wow, I finally got back online and I am overwhelmed by everyone's thoughtful responses... thanks for all the great ideas and encouragement, ladies!!

I am definitely bringing the Boppy (much to the chagrin of DH, heh heh, he doesn't want to waste precious suitcase space!) for use in the hotel, so I'll be good there. I'll just practice some of the other methods... I would LOVE to be able to nurse him in the Ergo - the geometry never looked right to me, but I think I'll try it again! Great idea using the stroller as a nursing stool, too. LOL about the leaking, I can't go anywhere without my Lansinoh pads, blech. The only fresh shirt I'm going to need is for spitup!

I'm really feeling better about this, and I hope I find some other nursing mom buddies while I'm there! So thanks again to everyone for being so helpful and supportive!

Just FYI, you won't need the boppy forever, just while the baby is so small that his torso isn't long enough to let him rest on your lap while nursing. With my children I found that I didn't really need to use that big pillow after about 9 weeks -- they do grow THAT fast! (FTR, I didn't use an actual Boppy, but a My Brest Friend; very much the same size.) I don't think that I ever used it for nursing past about 16 weeks.

So ... you may find that a regular bed pillow will be supportive enough at the point when you are actually ready to travel. Give it a try in the days leading up to the trip -- you may be able to save that luggage space after all.

PS: Over the years I've found that Johnson & Johnson disposable pads are MUCH more comfy than the Lansinoh version, and more absorbent, too.

I have nursed all three of my babies in WDW You will be fine. I became quite a champ at NIP, and I promise that WDW is the friendliest place on Earth when it comes to this. No one will look twice at you (unless you sit around totally topless). You can nurse in restaurants, on benches, in theaters, on boats, buses, etc. My trick for going without the boppy is to prop one ankle over my oppostive knee. You can then hold the baby in your lap with more support. You still have to lean over more than you would with a boppy, but it works.

My dad used to joke that it always looked like my babies were sleeping He was amazed at how "nothing showed" when I NIP. Within a day, you'll be a pro!

I never had a problem NIP I would just use a light weight blanket to cover and would wear layers i.e. a tank top w/ a button down over it. My youngest will be 11mo when we visit and I have already planned on doing what I have always done just discretely find a quiet spot and I also plan to bring my pump as well. Just relax, nobody will hardly notice and as some of the PP have said give it a few practice runs like at the mall or a restaurant. You'll be fine

I haven't had my baby yet, but I have been giving some thought to nursing in Disney since we will be going when he is 5 months old. I don't know if you have tried a "my breast friend" pillow but it is similar to a boppy, and they have one that inflates and deflates for travel. I have been keeping this in the back of my head, and am planning to buy one if I still use a nursing pillow when its time for us to travel. It would take up less space in your suitcase and while traveling through the parks. Just google "my breast friend travel pillow" and you will find it.

I found WDW to be just fine for NIP. I nursed on any shady bench or restaurant as my 7-month old needed. I never went to the baby care stations. We also had a 3 year old with us so we were basically on his schedule.

Don't give up on nursing in the Ergo, but I've found that for nursing upright they need very good head control. Once baby can latch themselves on it works much easier!

Didn't read through all the replies but I too am a nursing mom.

The good thing about WDW is there aways seems to be some out-of-the-way bench or shady spot...I don't think you'd have to look long to find a semi-secluded area in the parks to nurse.

I feel like it provides enough coverage that I'm never shy about nursing in public.

As for positioning, if I'm away from home, I usually shove my diaper bag under my elbow that's holding the baby's head to support her weight (if that makes sense). It also helps cover my exposed belly/side a bit.

Good luck! Our trip is in a few days and this'll be my first experience nursing at Disney. Just think - no bottles to tote around, no formula to mix...it sounds pretty convenient to me!

I completely agree with the nursing tanks. I got mine at old navy and I wear one everyday with a nursing bra from target ( by the way those are the best. Big flaps so you don't have to manuever yourself to get in position) anyway the tanks have a sliding hook at the shoulder. I unhook it place the strap under my bra strap. The front folds down. Then I unhook my bra. Baby eats and I use the top of my normal shirt to cover him. I don't have to worry with a cover because my tummy and sides are still completely covered. Although I did use one when he was young and would drop me everytime he swallowed. But I've really relaxed with nip because of it and I swear the only ones who know what I am doing are moms who have been there.

I know you have gotten lots of support with your concerns of BFing at WDW, but I had to add in that last Sept. DS was 5 months old and literally nursed on EVERY ride we rode together!!!!!!! I even nursed him standing in line on TSM! I have always been one to nurse on demand, so if we were on a ride and he needed to nurse thats what we did! I was worried that it would be difficult to find a good place and time to nurse but it totally was way easier than I could have imagined and we had a fabulous trip.
