Hmm, the only time I recall smelling something sweet is when I pass the Main Street Bakery. And that's deliberate!

I'm glad my clue wasn't obvious enough to be guessed right away! You both are very, very cold, as far as being close to solving it. It doesn't necessarily need to be outdoors...
