Soo. Tonite I decided to book my AAA room only rate with Disney. I call CRO, wait 20 minutes, and finally get some CM on the phone. I tell her I want to book AAA room only and immediately her tone changed, she knew she wasn't making commision on a vaca package from me so she was not the sweet peppy CM she was 1 minute ago. Then, I ask before she does that to see if there is a 'code' attached to my name. She asks me my last name and before I even finish spelling it she says rather rudely, 'I don't see anything under that name'. OK fine, I went on to tell her the dates and resort I would like to stay in. She gave me the rate, and the total for the trip with tax. She asked how many in my party. She asked our names. Then she said 'wait I just got booted out of the system, please tell me your dates again'. I then tell her my dates. She says please hold on I am pulling the information up again. Then, silence. The phone went dead. I then hear that annoying dial tone that you hear when the phone is off the hook. The line went dead. I proceed to dial CRO again, I wait another 20 min. Nobody picks up. I hang up. I had an epiphany! Last year we booked AAA room only for 2 nites at ASsp and received, in my opinion, one of the crapiest rooms I had ever seen in a Disney Resort. So I thought to myself, I bet that the CM's put a note in the computer that this is a AAA room only and to not give these people the best room possible.

So here are my questions:

Is that possible? Would CM's do that and can they do that?

If I book a package with AAA will the CM's know that as well?

Ugh, I am slightly disgruntled as I planned to book tonite but now am rethinking my booking strategy...:confused3

I think you just got a bad CM. I really don't think they place your room based on how you book. I usually book through AAA with a package and I have never been treated differently, Maybe you just got her at the end of a shift. I would just call again in the morning. I'm sure you'll get someone nicer.:wizard:

It's lovely, in a weird way, to think that they singled you out for "special treatment" but I don't think so. It was just luck of the draw on that bad room at ASSp

Lots of people book room only rates and don't get treated like you did on the phone. Just a few weeks ago, I booked room only and the CM on the phone was BEYOND helpful. And she didn't get anything out of me other than a room booking.

Maybe the CM you reached had a bad day. It happens. Or maybe she was in the eleventh hour of a 12 hour shift. That happens too sometimes.

Try calling again (outside of the evening hours) and let us know how it goes. Calling earlier in the day is better... the CM's are fresher and less tired. The evening hours are the busiest and it can get pretty crazy. Especially this time of year when everyone decides at the last minute to go in March and April and it's already heavily booked for those times.

Good luck -- and here's some pixie dust that your next call goes better.

They don't assign rooms until a week or so before your arrival, and the resort does that, not CRO. CRO is probably not permitted to put a note in the computer that says "give this cheapo AAA person a lousy room."

If the CMs get snotty with everybody who books room only, they ought to have gotten snotty with me a long time ago, and they haven't. You just got a bad one.

I agree, you just got a bad CM. We've never gotten an "attitude" for booking room only or AAA. Also, when you arrive, if you've gotten a room you dislike, talk to the front desk about the possibility of moving to a different one.

Hi guys, thanks for responding!

I prob did get a bad CM..

I am going to try again tomorrow morning, or just book a package with AAA. For the past two years I have booked everything myself, so I feel like I have never had this happen before. I mean I have heard of the 'bad CM' horror stories at CRO where ressies have been lost or deleted but I thought those were urban legends...haha

OK well I feel better today and am back to being excited that I am going back to Disney!!! :yay:
