I hope I'm posting this in an ok place - just got some incredible news and cannot contain myself!

A little background - last year in early September, my husband and I had a wonderful trip to WDW, stayed at AKL and had the best time. Then, two days after we returned home, we received the devastating news that my hubby had been diagnosed with cancer. The next many months were a whirlwind of surgery, chemo, visits to the ER and finally, follow up testing.

Once chemo was done, and he started feeling stronger, we decided that it would be nice to have a little something on the books to look forward to, to we booked a trip for this September, basically the same dates as last time, and we leave 11 days from today for another dose of magic.

And now for the best part - after some scans last week, we met with the medical team this morning and as of now, there is no cancer to be found! All the months of painful recovery and treatment did their job, and now we can prep and pack and enjoy our trip feeling a little lighter and even more lucky and joyful!

Sending out love to anyone going through something similar. It is hard and feels endless, but if you need love and support, this really is a great community to be a part of <3

Amazing, I hope you both are doing well and I hope you guys have a great trip. We are staying at AKL this next trip, in 4 days from now, and I wanted to know if you knew what were the best viewing areas around the lodge. If you don't of course that's fine.

Sounds like we check in on the same day, how exciting!

There are lots of great balconies overlooking the savannas! If you walk down the long hallways where the guest rooms are, every so often there will be a set of doors outside to kind of patio, often with rocking chairs. At least there are at Jambo house - I haven’t stayed at Kidani Village, so unsure about the portion of the resorts.

The overlooks off the lobby are also great - tons of animals, plus cast members to answer questions.

My mom is a breast cancer survivor who has been cancer-free for 19 years now....which has allowed us to make mother-daughter trips to WDW

I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and trip being derailed, I know it such a scary and unpredictable time. You're in my thoughts, and I pray that your treatment goes smoothly and that remission is in your very near future <3
