A little dissappointed with Boma's this last trip.

We had dinner at Boma's on 9/29. I've been a diehard Boma's fan and we've eaten there at least 10 times on various trips. I wasn't going to post, but I'm getting more curious if others feel the same way.

I feel their dishes are not quite as unique anymore and I feel there was less selection especially at the dessert bar. I felt it was ok to eat there, but I use to look forward to eating there. I don't feel that way, now.

Infact, some of the food looked even store bought, not homemade.

I didn't go to any other buffet restaurants on this last trip; so, I can't say if the Disney buffet places are downgrading or what.

Anyone else feel the same way?

I don't agree. We were just there on 10/7 and have probably visited at least 6 other times. I thought the selection was about the same or better than other visits. What I did notice was that items I had seemed a bit spicier than previous visits. That was a good thing though - except the waiter was a little slow to fill my drink.

We too have been HUGE Boma fans for the past few years/visits.....we were there in April for 12 days and made Boma the only "repeat" dinner visit.....I thought the food and variety were great.....although I have to be honest....I didnt get too much at the desert station.....I was too full by then !! :thumbsup2
Although that was 6 months ago and I would be very interested (and disappointed) if the quality and variety have declined.

:wave2: Hi neighbor! I'm a tad bit north of Lafayette!
We try to eat at Boma every time we go; as a matter of fact it's the only ADR we have for our upcoming Nov. trip. I ate there in May a couple times and it was as great as ever; the service was very attentive as well. One of the chefs even came out and made a big deal over our 2 year old DGD (she IS extremely cute    ) and gave her a cup of gummy candy! We LOVE Boma and hope you just caught it on a bad night. We'll find out Nov. 4th!

Howdy neighbors, too! I'm just south of Kokomo! :wave2:

We've only been to Boma once, but have an ADR there in about 10 days. I was sort of sruprised that the foods weren't as unique as I thought they'd be, but we all loved it. I guess I assume that if you want some more authentic stuff you need to eat at Jiko. I'd love to know if there actually has been a change in the last few years though...

You went on a Friday, and perhaps that's the problem. They didn't have the ribs that day. They only have them on Wednesday and Saturday nights. I won't eat at Boma if it's not Wednesday or Saturday. I will come back to this topic tomorrow night, because I will be eating at Boma tomorrow night and give my impressions.

I always enjoy Boma reguardless of what's on the menu... the experience in itself is enough to keep me coming back.

btw: if you complement one of the chefs, they'll usually give you an order of fried oreos on the house. :thumbsup2

Sorry to here this, we also love it there.

I have to say the first time we ever went, we were somewhat disappointed partly because our expectations were huge as people just rave about this place. We have gone back about a half dozen times now and sometimes we go away loving it, sometimes, we can just take it or leave it. I think alot of it has to do with our mood and just little personal experiences that happen when we go.

We have booked Boma's this coming trip and it will be our first time dining there. We are looking forward to this new adventure, we had steered clear of Boma's because of the difference in the food, but decided to give it a try.

We live 30 minutes from disney and eat at disney- alot. In fact, if you count every single table service in all 4 parks and the resorts we only have 15 new tables left to try. With that being said, I have definately seen a downgrade in the quality and quantity of their food. Case in point. The big kahuna burger at Konas is not so big anymore. Within the last month it has gotten smaller. The french dip sub at le cellier has gone though 2 downgrades in size over the last year(I should know I have had dozens of them because it is my fave food at disney). The beef appretizer at le cellier just got cut in half for dinner in the last 3 weeks. Same price for half the food. I cannot even take my wife to Ohana anymore because she goes nuts over the stuff they cut out. We decided to try it one more time and she got really mad when they were gonna throw everything in 1 skillet to save time and space. I know alot of people may not see it because they cannot go as much as we do but we are there every weekend and the money savings is going a little too far.

I absolutely love Bomas, the service there was always amazing, we had a favorite waitress that took care of us everytime we went for years...Jules!

Well, Jules moved to Las Vegas :guilty:

I am sooooo sad, we ate there at the beginning of the month and while everything was delicious we just missed her. She was one of the best servers EVER! She would have the chef make special dishes for us and bring us out fried oreos for us (yum)

I found out where she is working though so next time we are on the west coast or in vegas Im gonna go see her!
