So I decided on my upcoming trip to Disney to make a solo trip one day to Universal to check out Harry Potter. I will only buy my ticket for Island of adventure.
My question is, Is IOA near the other park? Are there 2 seperate entrances?
I'm using mears to get me to the park so do I tell them to take me to Islands of Adventure?
I'm a little confused, I haven't been to the park since I was 9 so I forget.
Any help is great! Thanks.

IOA and Universal Studios are right beside each other (well, there are a couple restaurants in between, but a very short walk). Although the parks have separate front gates, both share a parking garage and are accessible through CityWalk, so my guess is you'll get dropped off at/near the parking garage (though I've never taken Mears, so somebody who has can correct me!), then walk to the park (again, super close. Everything is within walking distance at Universal). Should be easy peasy!

Mears will drop you off, I believe, at the shuttle and taxi area. You go up stairs or escalators, turn to your left and lo and behold you are at the bag check area, followed by the moving walkway to Citywalk. Walk around citywalk on the left side heading for the big IoA pillar thing and you'll be there in a couple of minutes. :upsidedow

Yes, IOA is to the left side of Citywalk. You park in the ramp and walk thru Citywalk and head towards the left. IOA has it's own entrance and like you said, needs to have it's own ticket. They are two distinctly different theme parks, so I always recommend visiting both, but if time and budget constraints don't allow, IOA with WWoHP should suffice! I prefer USO though myself... have a good time!
