A little bummed (AKA First World Problems)

I'm a little bummed that I just lost my grandfathered Parking Pass which was attached to my AP of 5 years. I was about to renew my AP, but realized it was a couple days past the expiration date. I pleaded with the CM over the phone when trying to renew, but she told me that I need to purchase new AP without the Parking Pass.

So now I have to consider per visit costs when going to Disneyland instead of just driving up to the garage and flashing my card.

Yes, I lost my parking pass last year (renewed on time but was told it was no longer Grandfathered in). When I heard that others managed to keep their parking pass, I called back and they added it back on, but warned me it might go away this year. I've been trying to figure out whether or not that's true. If it's still Grandfathered, I'll renew my pass next month. If not, I'll wait and renew when I go in Dec.

This is a theme park forum, I mean, everything on here is a 'first world problem'. Doesn't make this less valid as a problem.

I'm sure those parking costs add up over time and that does suck.

Update: Tried again today and spoke with their supervisor who looked into it further and came back saying their system is unable to add back parking once the original pass expired.

Parking privileges are an important part of an AP. A few years years ago when my Sig AP was $800, it included parking. I went to the park enough that the money I saved on parking alone was enough to cover my pass. If they ever remove it, suddenly I'll have to pay an additional $1,000 annually. If that were to happen, I'm not sure that I'd renew. I think that will be true for most AP-holders. There's little point to an AP if it'll will still cost frequent visitors and additional $100 per month.

Not quite the same as parking in the structure, but there have been threads here with information on how to park for less when visiting the parks. (Try doing a search for some of these older threads.) Some people park at the Fullerton train station and take the OCTA bus straight down Harbor to the parks. Some people park at the ARTIC lot and use ART to get to the parks. Just don't park on any residential streets that require permits -- you will get towed, which is a not very magical way to end a day at DLR. Finding an alternative so that you don't have to pay the $25 every time you visit might help take some of the sting out of this.

As a matter of fact, I may have found my own parking alternative: my niece and nephew - "Childless Millenials" - both have Signature Annual Passes which include parking! Looks like we'll be inviting them along with us on our DLR/DCA trips!

Thats great! And there's the added bonus of extra family time. Always a silver lining to a bad situation
