So, when I heard on the news that Disney is getting rid of Disney Dollars, it did make me sad. This was a huge part of our trip planning when my son was growing up...He would get Disney Dollars for an entire year before a trip, he would count it and keep track of it, and he loved it. I put them in his stocking, in Easter Eggs, I would even hide them under his pillow, and he would save them.
Then, when he was at the park, it was a great teaching tool...he could see how many dollars he had left, and plan what he wanted to buy. You don't have that visual with a gift card.
I also remember one chilly spring when we told him we would give him $10 Disney Dollars if he jumped into our freezing cold pool. He did it...LOL. Good memories.
Gift cards just don't seem the same!
He's grown now, but I'm glad he grew up in a time when we could do the whole Disney Dollar thing. Sad that another era is ending. Wish I had saved one.
