A Letter from a student

I just had to come here and share this because it has made my day! I am a special education 6th grade teacher. I have some kids who are truly trying and make me question my sanity. However, today I recieved the following letter from one of my students. I'm going to type it exactly as she wrote it....

Dear Mrs. D******,
I really enjoy your class. My favorite thing about your class is you! When ever I walk in your class room seeing you smile then I know we're going to have some fun learning. You're my insperaion. You're the reason why want to come to school. No matter if you have a bad day you still have a smile and not make us sufer evn though you want to some times. I appreasheate that. trust me I know. You try your hardest to make learning fun. Why do you be so nice. Why do you make learning fun. I know... becouse you're a kind, sweet, and carring Queen. I just wanted to thank you for all you dune. Hang in thare.

I have to explain the Queen comment...I tell the kids that I am the Queen and this is my Queendom and they have to respect that!!

This letter really touched me and I had to share!! (this is my lunch break right now!!)

Awwww. I noticed that you said you got the letter just as some students were making you question your sanity. Did you ever notice how these things seem to happen just when you feel like you might have made a huge mistake going into education? Every time I question my decision I get some kind of sign like a letter or a compliment that tells me I made the right choice.

As the mother of a 6th grader with special needs - I thank you for what you do every day. I know the teachers my son deals with every day are one of the reasons why he gets through every day. I just received an e-mail from one of them telling me that ds had a good day and I got choked up as I can tell she cares about him.

That's so sweet!!

Two weeks ago, I was going nutty here at work. So overwhelmed as two of my attorneys prepared for trial. I was so stressed. The day the trial started, they sent me flowers with a card that simply said "thanks for helping to get us off to trial".

Isn't it amazing how something so simple can make such an impact?

How wonderful to receive a letter like that! You obviously mean a lot to her and I'm sure to the other students, even when they don't show it. You have a lot to be proud of!

I got teary reading it!! I knew I couldn't call anyone and tell them because I would cry!

I'm going to do a scrapbook for this school year and that will definately be in it!!

AW That remind's me of my mom. She teaches special ed food service for high school aged kids. Some of them are REALLY bad but she loves her job because of the kids like Emily. Some of them call her "MOM". It's sad because they are treated better in her classroom than they are at home.
Thank you for doing your job so well. Even though it is hard, you really do make a difference in these kids' lives, more than you know sometimes. I could not do what you and my mom do, that is why I have such an appreciation for someone who can.
