A Jude Update.

I am happy to hear that he is doing better on the new meds. Enjoy every day to the fullest. And may there be many, many more good days ahead.

Gee-so glad you shared that:eek:

BelleWDW, you may not be familiar with Dawn's backstory. Her beloved poodle is suffering from Transitional Cell Carcinoma (TCC), a horrible cancer of the urinary system. I faced this illness with a loved dog as well, so I do understand--as do many on this thread--the importance of discussing her dog's eating and elimination habits. I'm certain that no-one posting on this thread, nor Dawn intends to offend anyone by discussing urination, but it is an important issue to address given Jude's current health status.

TCC is a relatively rare cancer, one that hopefully will never touch a pet that you love. Many of us here care about Jude and wish to offer Dawn compassion as she faces what will be a terminal condition for her dog.

Dawn is also a nurse. And of course, we nurses, in giving an updated "report" such as this one, would naturally include pertinent data such as elimination status, which wouldn't be complete without a description of flow and color/consistency of urine. Right, Dawn? :teeth:

Dawn thanks for the update. I also had a dog with bladder cancer (TCC). She was a beautiful sable collie named Kaesee.

I'm glad the meds are working for him. Here's to continued success.

I grew up in a medical family. I can understand this--talk of decubitus and inter-ocular ulcers were typical dinner table conversation. When my dog was sick, the vets always commented that I could give them good descriptions of my concerns for her health. Changes in eating and elimination habits often signal a health problem.

I didn't know about Jude before but I'm glad to hear he's happy and doing well with the meds.

Sending thoughts for continued peace and health and healing.

Thank you!

Happy new year Dawn & Jude. I wish you many happy days ahead!

Thank you. Its cold and he is still sleeping! I never make my bed until he gets up. ;)

 My crazy neighbor called the police one time and told them that we had a vicious mongrel with an animalistic bark. I kid you not. The cop came in and there was our animalistic poodle stretched out in front of the fireplace. Interestingly, the cop found the neighbor hiding in our bushes trying to find out what the cop was going to say to us. Let's just say, the cop had plenty to say...to HIM>

Minky is WAY smarter than your idiot neighbor. Referring to a poodle as "animalistic"?

Thank you. Sorry for your loss. Its a day to day thing right now.

A dog with an animalistic bark....too funny! Should they have human barks?:rotfl:

Jude is so handsome. We have a black standard poodle on our block named Sophie. They are just so regal looking and have such "human" faces I think, if you know what I mean....their eyes are so soulful. Also the ones I've know have been SO intelligent, calm, just great dogs all around.

LOL, you are a "good historian".

Re Standard Poodles. I haven't been fortunate enough to know too many, except for a few that were in our training classes over the years. (I did have several friends with Miniature Poodles growing up and I remember them very well - good dogs, all.)

I'll admit that years ago, when I first saw the "lists" that listed Standard Poodles ranking higher than German Sheperds on the intelligence scale, I was like, "No Way!". :lmao: But I've since realized it is true, they are very smart!

He's a bright boy. DS#4 asked me the other day if Jude knows what is happening. As smart as he is, I would like to believe that he knows something is "different" and that he doesn't always feel good, but dogs live in the moment and they don't dwell on how they felt last summer or worry about the future. At least I hope not. BTW, he's up and about this morning. Did his "business" just fine, and in fact managed to "hit" his fore leg which we cleaned off for him when he walked in the door. Hitting the foreleg is a really good indication that things are working well. He also ate a modest breakfast but at least he ate.

Hi Dawn, I was just wondering how Jude is holding up with all this cold we're having?

His appetite has improved. The cold doesn't bother him but it sure bothers me! ;) When he goes out midday I think gets a bladder spasm, because he will make 10 stops or more, decide to come in, and then head back out to the wooded area, and make 4 or 5 more stops. I feel so bad for him. I just took him out on the long leash a few minutes ago. It looked like "just blood". I know it probably isn't but he felt that he had to go so we stopped a couple of bushes and then I had him come in and lie down. He will have to go out often for the next 3 hours and then it will settle down. He looks so good and then "reality" hits and it breaks my heart.

What a nut case!

I'm not a nurse, and I can't for the life of me see why that poster found an issue with the post. There wasn't anything particularly gory or shocking in it. :confused3

I'm sorry for his situation, and I hope things are as easy for him as possible. I'm glad he has you to care for him.

Thank you. We have been out again since my last post. My computer is in the kitchen and this is the time of day he needs to go out often. He will come and lick my elbow to let me know. If I can get him to relax, I think it settles down. He sleeps all night in our bed without getting up, and it doesn't start until later in the day.

How cute! I love that second picture of him on the bed. He looks like the blonde guy from Cheap Trick!

I'm glad he's able to rest all night. That's good for both of you. :goodvibes
