We are going im May of 2008 . What can we do to make sure we get jioning rooms? My parents are going with us and my dad wants to be close to the grandkids and if the children want to stay with my parents and then have a dream they can go back to our room.

They won't be able to guarantee adjoining rooms in your circumstances. I'd just make sure the request is noted on the reservation, maybe call the resort directly or fax them a few days before check-in to reiterate the request, and then very politely ask at check-in.

You don't want adjoining rooms, I don't think. You want connecting rooms. The rooms with a door in between them inside. So no one has to go outside the room to go between the two. Those are connecting roms. Adjoining rooms will be two rooms next to each other with no shared inside door between them. Fine line but it's important to know what you want.

You can call Central Reservations and request connecting rooms. BUT, those are not guaranteed unless there are special circumstances (like children out number adults which they won't in your case). Every attempt to meet your request will be made. From my experience, this request is made almost all the time but never think that it will be. If this is your only request, your chances are better. If you start to add things like first floor, close to food court, next to the pool., in this section, on a corner, with pink curtains, then your chances will be less.

You can make your request of connecting rooms now. You don't have to wait until check in.

As the other poster mentioned you want connecting rooms. You can have the request added to your reservation. Due to the number of adults they will not guarantee this.

I have found the best thing you can do is check in as early as possible and make a verbal request then (in addition to having it noted). We requested this last year and were given neighboring rooms, but not connected. We checked in at 9:00 p.m. though and they were all taken.

I was told that they do guarantee adjoining rooms for Grand Gatherings (if you have at least 8 people 3 and over)

We got connecting rooms for our Grand Gathering and I didn't check in 1st, but was told it did take her a few minutes to locate them...but it wasn't a huge issue...

That's not true. Connecting or adjoining rooms are an automatic request on a Grand Gathering.

As has been previously mentioned, the ONLY time they'll guarantee connecting rooms is for 2 adults with more kids than will fit in 1 room. AND if you're staying someplace with an option for a family of your size to stay in 1 room - they won't guarantee connecting. If you have 5 in a family, with only 2 adults - they won't guarantee connecting rooms at All Star Music because of the family suites.

Connecting rooms at Disney are never a sure fire guarantee regardless of what you are told while booking or even what your confirmation says.

The resort determines who gets them and the only definite is two rooms and "one" adult. More than one adult they can and have seperated other guests before.

well, thats just what I was told by more than 1 GG CM, and the front desk did ask when our friends checked in if we *HAD* to have connecting rooms because she wasn't seeing any available at first...

so in my experience it was more than just a "request" but as I've seen here different CM's do say different things...

If there are 2 adults in your party, and 3 or more children between the ages of 3 and 17, the following resorts will guarantee connecting rooms.

All Star Movies
All Star Sports
Pop Century
Port Orleans French Quarter
Caribbean Beach
Coronado Springs
Animal Kingdom Lodge
Wilderness Lodge

You must let them know at the time of booking that you need connecting rooms.

There must be connecting rooms available for you. They will let you know if they aren't available.

If in your party of 5, one of the kids is 2 years old or younger, they will not guarantee the connecting rooms, because you would fit into one room at the above mentioned resorts.

If you are a party of 2 adults and 4 children between the ages of 3 and 17, Disney will guarantee connecting rooms at Port Orleans Riverside for you, but the conditions above still apply. (Just like the others if you have 4 kids and one of them is 2 or younger, you won't be guaranteed connecting rooms because you'd fit into one room in Alligator Bayou)

It may happen - but I don't know because I've never encountered it. I would assume if you've got 2 adults and FIVE kids between the ages of 3 and 17, All Star Music would guarantee connecting rooms. That I'm not sure about, but I am sure about the others.
