I am noticing more and more posts that exist solely to boost a posters count. I can understand being new to the boards and trying to boost your posting count...but you really need to be contributing something, vs just taking up space.
I will continue to delete any posts that exist soley to 'boost post counts'. While the vast majority of posters that do this are new and just want to become part of the community, there are other posters out there who do this in order to be able to spam the boards more efficiently. So, posts just for the benefit of 'boosting' will be deleted.
Fair warning.

This!

goofy, a question...

If we notice something like this, should we report the post?

For example, I was reading a thread and someone's post was simply "Trying to get to 10." Should that be reported or just let the mods find it?

What's strange was the poster's count was at '10', but when I searched for other posts, only two came up.

sam gorden, I noticed that one too, and when I saw this thread I suspected that that person may have been what prompted it. ;) I searched for other posts too to see if all their posts were the same (which would've strongly suggested that they were going to try to spam the boards), and did find 10 posts, so I'm assuming that most have been deleted.

Oh, you bunch of nosey nellies. I deleted the posts that were on this board, which means the poor lady now has two fewer posts. It's really pretty easy to build up your count. Find threads you can contribute to, and do so. But, it's very distracting to try and follow a thread when someone just posts to boost their post count.
If any of you see something you're not sure of, by all means let me know. I can then deal with it as I see fit...wow, sounds kind of all powerful, doesn't it??? Didn't mean it to. You guys are really the best...I have very little housekeeping to do here....:worship::thumbsup2

Why the heck would someone care how many posts they have :confused3
Do people really post just to make the number of posts bigger...that is just funny.
I wish I had nothing else to worry about but how many posts I had on the dis :rotfl:

What annoys me when reading a long thread is seeing people who just say "subscribing" :headache: Don't people realize that you can do that without posting that in a thread? Ok, vent over! ;)

You need to have 10 posts to post links and I think to post pictures. Other than that, I don't know.

PMing is another reason, which really can serve a purpose if you are trying to rent DVC points (or have a very direct question). Lots of people lurk, possibly for years, before posting anything. I am a much bigger lurker than poster. So much so, I actually joined back in '99 or 2000, but when I went to post something I had forgotten my password and no longer had the email address that was tied to it. SO I started over. HOWEVER, it is very easy to get your post count up legitimately. Simply post questions or when you have something of value to add. Visit the community board if nothing else.

No, people truly do not know that you can subscribe without replying.

And in my case, I don't subscribe with every reply, because that's how I have my stuff set up! But people don't know you can do that, either.

Subscribing........ sweet, post number 4317! :rotfl2:

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Hey, I've got you both beat I'm at 11,332.:rotfl::rotfl: Uh oh, does that mean I've posted just to boost my post count too many times or that I'm on the DIS too much.:confused3

Hey, I work night shift and as long as I'm here to cover any problems, my boss doesn't care what I do to stay awake.:rotfl: He knows I'm on the computer all night, most nights. He'd rather I post on the DIS than accidentally go to sleep.:rotfl::rotfl:

I've actually had a not so nice poster tell me that I have a high post count because I don't have a life. I wonder at what number you post count is too high and you should abandon your name and come back as someone else?
