It's still not working. I'm pretty sure it's the graphics card that does this. I am not exactly sure where it is inside my computer or exactly which one to replace it with. I have found 2 listed for my computer, but neither look like anything inside of mine. My computer was refurbed when I got it, so not sure if they changed to a totally different one or not. I was thinking of trying to do it myself, but I guess it's better to take it in. I just have trust issues with computer places.
Today is Skips 50th birthday, so I am just kind of staying away from the computer and it's issues today....well not totally, but more than I normally would!

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I almost replaced my SEVEN year old computer when I had my problems, but then was glad I didn't do it when we ended up with over $1000 in car repairs soon after. Don't even ask......... :faint:

And.................

Happy Birthday to Skip! party:

I am about to scream! LOL!
I took the computer in yesterday. I REALLY hope they can fix it and not lose anything. I tried to put my discs in my laptop to get a few pictures and it reads them as blank. Now I think it's the laptop, because I have had this problem in the past. It only likes certain disc and it seems that when I try to copy anything from the laptop to a disc, it never works. I hope those disc actually have all my pictures on them. And I hope nothing is lost on my desktop if they don't.
When I copied my pictures to the disc, they read as full on my desktop.
I still have some pictures on my cards if things do get lost, but not all. One card is completely cleared.
Also dis is coming up weird on the dang laptop too, so I hope it's the problem.

Ugh, car problems and computer issues are the nemesis' of my life! I always tell DH I'm swearing off technology when they arise. :) Hope things are up and running soon.

Happy Birthday to Skip!

I need my car fixed too, but it's something that can wait...at least that is what Skips says. :rotfl: I have priced out a computer...just in case. But for what I want, it is a little higher than I want. But I want lots of memory.
But I really DON'T want a new computer. I LOVE XP. I am not too familiar with 7, but I hear it is better than Vista, which I absolutely hate. I have had my computer for about 5 years, but it was refurbished when I got it. I think it's technically 8 or 9 years old. But I LOVE it...when it's not giving me problems.

I hate that they make new and improved all the time, and then not all of the old stuff is compatible. And it's not like my 10 year old stuff isn't compatible, it's like every few years...or less.

My laptop is only a year and a half old and the hard drive already pooped out on me once. Found out when I took it in that it had a flaw in it to begin with and it was covered under manufactuor warrenty. Thank goodness!

Anyway, my home pc is XP and old, like first XP ever out old! and it's just about dead. I got this laptop in Nov of 09. It is Windows 7 and I love 7! It's very user friendly and nothing at all like Vista which other family members have and hate and double hate!

I hope you get everything sorted out with your computer and I hope you don't lose any pictures:eek:

BTW, I'm following your new Flash thread over in the Photgraphy forums. I'm hoping to learn something!

Jen, have you considered an external hard drive for all your photos? It might help to get them all off your main hard drive, then you could also use them on either computer. I keep 3 of them. One I'm using now. One to back this up every so often, and one is smaller so I take it when I travel.

And on the up side, when something happens with your computer, they aren't affected.

So far I really haven't learned much on the flash though. LOL!
I hear 7 is good. My mom has 7, but I never did anything but surf the web on that, so I don't know how easy it is to work with pictures on it . I have a system of how I do things, and I'm not good with change. :rotfl2:

I do have 1 external hard drive, and all my old Disney pictures are on it. I just never put the new ones on. I did finally figure out how to get my pictures on the laptop, if needed. They are going to the DVD ROM thing and I was trying to find them in the Cd. Why it does that, I don't know. I also changed a setting on the stupid thing and now can transfer pictures off the camera to the laptop.Wish I would've figured that out while on vacation. How small is your small one? That would be ideal to travel with. I almost brought mine, but I didn't want the extra weight and bulk, even though it really isn't that big.
The only pictures not completely backed up are the more recent ones I took since being home. I did print some, but I know Claire's zoo trip hasn't been printed or backed up at all. I really hope they can fix it and life can go on in happy XP world. :worship:
I am so frustrated with this laptop now too because keys keep sticking. Sometimes the spacebar, enter and backspace keys won't work till I pound on them for a few minutes. And then the lighting is weird on it too. Depending how you angle the screen. I can't edit photos on it really as they don't come out nearly the same.

Well I should probably start my day and do something besides gripe about a computer.

We're in similar positions with computers. Mine just isn't yelling at me today like yours is......

Here's the external I have:

http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Passport-Essential-Portable/dp/B0041OSQ9S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305385107&sr=8-1

It's VERY small, which is what I like. I got a small hardsided case for it on ebay, so it's very easy to carry in my backpack.. It's 4.5" x 3".

Part of my hesitation is also giving up XP. We had a terrible time when we bought Robbie's laptop a couple years ago. He wanted XP so he could run the SimCity programs he uses. They were all Vista then. THANK HEAVEN we went to the trouble to hunt down an XP model. But I've been told by many people (who hopefully know.......) that Windows 7 is FAR better than Vista.

Keep us posted!

When I was getting my laptop, I priced a few of the remaining XP's and they were soooo much more expensive..I guess because no one wanted Vista. LOL!

Yeah....... I think we paid more for it. It was a long drawn out search. We finally got one from Dell. But we're really glad now that we didn't settle for Vista.

Dell is where I got my vista, and they had the xp's. But I was being cheap...wish I didn't go that route.

Well, my son wasn't willing to go cheap. Since he wasn't paying and all....... :lmao:

Sorry, I haven't posted earlier Jen.

Love the Dolphin Encounter, photos and video - so cute! It must have been so exciting for Claire, you can just tell by the expression on her sweet little face! :goodvibes

Shame about your computer - I hope it can be fixed and that the repair won't be too costly.
One thing though - I can tell you ......... a new car is really nice - take to Skip about it! :thumbsup2

And .........

tell him "Happy Birthday, all the way from Austria"! :goodvibes

Wow - that Dolphin encounter looks like so much fun and your pictures turned out great.

So sorry about your lost memory card. That is so frustrating. But you certainly still managed to get a bunch of great pictures.

What a fantastic day!

My laptop is Vista & the pc is XP. I've gotten used to the Vista & don't seem to have any problem with it. I'm not a real pro at computing & can do all that I need, so I'm ok with the Vista.

The thing that I need to know is how to post photos to these boards. Are there instructions here somewhere? :confused3

Sorry to hear about your computer problems I know how frustrating that is. I have windows 7 but all I know how to do is surf the web:blush:

That blows Jenn. It's our super sized files blowing stuff up. I make several copies of everything before I clear the cards
