A helping hands to those doing the I conquered the Heat of Florida maps.

Lately I have been called upon as a consultant from the adoring legions of fans, asking me the best way to do the maps.

As a person that has done the darn thing more time than I care to count (except for June who likes to do it) this is the best plan I can suggest to you the crazy must get free pin few who are willing to attempt it.

#1 Start at the Animal kingdom tell security you are doing the map and just park next to the Taxi's… Run up to the shop and get stamped which is out side. Total time 5 to 10 minutes. Run back to your car and if you want pickup lost looking tourist and drive them to Sport complex tell them it's whatever resort they ask you take them too. (you just made $20.00 plus tip)

#2 Take your fare down the same street you just took to get to the Animal Kingdom and go straight until you see the Sports Café sign. Park in the front drop off loop, drop of the fare and tell them the resort is behind the stadium. Run into the shop, get stamped and leave before the tourist figure out what you just did. Total time 5 to 10 minutes.

#3 Leave Sports complex and head back to Magic Kingdom, take first exit and the first resort you hit it MGM. Tell security your doing the map and they will let you park in front temp parking maxium time you can park there is 15 minutes. It will take you 10 to get to the outside shop get stamped and back if your lucky 15 to 20 if your not. They will not tow you away unless they spot you riding Tower of Terror (which I never got to do thank you Ms I need air-conditioning and food now June)

#4 Leave MGM and hit the next spot… Epcot same deal as above if your stamping and running, or option 2 leave car there and take monorail to the Contemporary ( not advised as you will need to take monorail back to Epcot to get to Downtown Disney) The best bet is to temp park get stamped outside, and drive to the Contemporary. Total time 10 to 20 minutes.

#5 Get to the Contemporary tell Security you know me ( And get kicked out) Tell security your doing the map, and park anywhere you can, get to the 4th floor and get stamped. Total time ½ hour.

#7 Take monorail to Magic Kingdom, or walk if you need it (be honest) Get stamped and ride monorail back to Contemporary, get your car and head to DTD. Total time about 45 minutes to an hour.

#8 Drive to DTD. Park as close to the end as you can get, get to the pin trading station and get your pin.

Total time should be 1 1/2 to 3 hours (really) If you're a man and can hold your pee, 8 to 10 hours if you take a woman or girl with you. (Regardless of how cute she is) You will also need secondary where are the bathrooms map. And be prepared to hit every gift shop from here to there. (I'm not lying and the women know I'm right)

Disclaimer…

This was the best way to do it in my opinion, everything is in a straight line. Times are approximate. To the person that swears they took Disney Transportation and did the map in 2 hours, You're a stinking liar and if I catch you I'll take behind the contemporary and whoop your hide.

okay Mr Map Consultant :)

What would you suggest for a group of four hitting the ground in Orlando around 4pm and wanting to hit the ground running?

Here is my plan, tell me if you can do it better:

Drive from the airport with the car filled with 4 adults and so much luggage (including all the GPA stuff) that the back end is dragging ground. Go straight to DTD and grab the maps. Blindfold Jeff so that he cannot see the build a pins causing us to lose time and causing the GPA candybars to melt in the car.

Drive straight to the Dolphin. Basically throw the luggage into the lobby of the Dolphin, give the valet dude $10 to stuff it in our room and run back out to the car.

Drive directly to Epcot (yes, I know you can walk from the Dolphin but I'm thinking ahead) Get AP's and run into the park and get stamps. Run back out of the park and back into the car (giving me an extra 5 minutes to hobble and catch up)

Drive to MGM, get our stamps and by that time be able to catch Fantasmic. Listen to Jeff talk about how he really wanted to play with the build a pins at DTD but we wouldn't let him.

Leave MGM after Fantasmic and drive to the Contemporary to get our stamps there - hopefully the place will still be open. Listen once again to how Jeff wishes he could have spent time at the build a pin area at DTD - stuff him in trunk.

Drive to DTD to appease Jeff and let him play with the build a pins until the place closes.

Go back to the hotel and figure out where our room is an collapse only to wake up first thing in the morning and finish. Unless you think you see a slot to stick Magic Kingdom in on that schedule??

Since I have not done this before, I need to know the following:

1. What stamps do we have to get. I thought everything was being held at EPCOT?????

2. Are the stamps for the pin maps?

3. If so, MeanLaureen, aren't you coming on Thursday, if not before? If so, I thought maps weren't available until Friday.

4. What maps at DTD?????????

Is this all tongue in cheek? If so, you guys suckered me in. Please clue me in,

signed,

yours truly,

Clueless in Raleigh

Rwethereyet?
No they aren't pulling your leg. This is a different map quest, the I Conquered the World map. It started in the middle of August and runs till the end of September. The ones you are thinking of are the pin event maps at EPCOT

Dear Clueless :),

The map they are talking about here is the I Conquered the World Map. You can get your map at any of the major pin carts/shops and then head "around the World" to get stamps at each of the theme parks, Wide World of Sports, the Contemporary, and DTD. You then get a completer build apin base and if you so choose can have an add on attached.

Signed,
Been there, done it already.

Maybe someone would offer to get these maps stamps for the hobbled of the group. I am pretty well resolved to give up on the map due to my leg. I won't have a car and transportation would make it too long and my wheelchair just won't go in any car. OK I give up./ Can't be done in my circumstances.

No, No, I don't want to know about this. It will make me feel as if I have to do this, and I just don't know if these old bones are up to the challenge.

Drats, I did see where the time on this was extended, but I had not even considered for this trip. May have to pass on this one. thanks for the info, I was getting very, very, very confused.

Leave Jeff at the build a pin I'll pick him up later that night on my way to the park.

That way he will have a few hours to try the 956,045,967 combinations of inserts and bases.

By the time I get there the cast members will be most happy to get rid of him.

Think of the sight though... A grown man on the floor sitting indian style, with 3000 pin parts all over the floor. :p

P.S Clueless and Talking this is the coolest pin of the bunch, and a must have for the true collector, now its official you must do quest.

P.S.S Dont worry about Jeff you guys, just leave him some water, and a few Scooby Snacks.

Raul, I am telling myself I will not do this, but since there are special CM and AP pins, I am probably already hooked. What is another $60-$70???????

You know you guys, this truly gives a totally new defininte to the expression "my pin money". Certainly not what my Momma meant when she talked about her "pin money."

You tell me how I can do it with a power wheelchair and no car. Impossible task unfortunately. As much as I want to do this I can see no reasonable way to accomplish it. My leg is not stable enough to do all that walking.

Lauri you guys don't even have to stop at DTD to get the maps...you can get them at your first stamp stop...they are everywhere... I know that will dissapoint Jeff...but it will save you a lot of time, and give the CM's at DTD a break..

One more question, after looking at the completed map on DizPins, where do the CM and the AP pin go? It looks like a specific spot for each pin and that you must have them all for the map to look complete.

I'll hook you up girl... I have a map and pin for ya. unless you want to give the scooter an extra charge and go for it.

It wont be the first time I see one of those things on the road with a pin bag flying in the breeze behind them.

Just find me at one of those pin things with Jeff and Mean mojo jo jo girl.

Thanks. Will do. Are you coming to AC Thursday night? I definately will be there. Plus due to a change in plans I may make EPCOT as well.

You can also get the Map & Stamp at the TTC Gift Station, so you don't even have to go into the Magic Kingdom.

Wait, we aren't going from the airport directly to the Build-A-Pin store? Somebody better be kidding here. The way I heard it was that we were going from the airport to Downtown Disney where we would give some Cast Members some maps and while they were running around Walt Disney World we would get to build pins that we could then use for the Great Pin Adventure. Now I find out I am going to be cruising around in a VW Bug with 3 other adults and 15 suitcases to see how much we can make Matthew sweat before sundown.

All I know is I am going to buy like about 15 of those add on pins at the Build-A-Pin thing, go to Michaels and get me some felt pages and make my own spinner. If I can wire that pin up to my car headlights it will be a light up pin too.

Jeff
