We have been driving back and forth between MCO and WDW yearly and have used 417 since it was first completed. This is the first time I missed the airport and went all the way on 417 till we connected to 528. The construction changed the look and I´m sure there used to be signs that said Airport that I missed, what a pain. I am glad we gave ourselves extra time. Since we used a different route from Animal Kingdom than our usual one, we did not go past the gas station we normally use and then had to drive through the airport to get gas by terminal C since we came into the airport from the east. I hope no one else makes our mistake.

Sorry to hear that, thanks for the heads up. From your post I am guessing you do not use a phone navigation app? Even when I know where I am going I usually have google maps on in case of construction detours, etc.

Our last few trips have been so easy I haven´t needed any guidance. I should have turned it on. The construction is extensive.

I live here and always use an app. Road construction is the state sport.
Got that right Don. Lol. I don’t drive to the gas station without my GPS.
I usually get out of work around midnight. I like working nights because less traffic going home. The last week or two, it’s been detouring me off I4, going through Champions Gate. Resurfacing project near exit55, still ripping out the extra lanes on I4 they put in while they were redoing Champions Gate exit.
I’ve learned to trust the GPS.

I-4 + Champion's Gate= 🤬

Isn't there a Shell station now on the access road leading to MCO? I've always gassed up at S536 & S535 intersection, but would hit that Shell by airport if it's an option.

Yes, used it for the first time two weeks ago. I had always gassed up at that same service station at SR536 & SR535 as well in the past, but we had a Budget rental this time and they had asked to see the receipt to verify that I had filled the tank within 5 miles of drop off when I had returned a car in Port Canaveral the week before. In fact, the check in for Budget at MCO was essentially no-service, since we just left keys in the car, unloaded trunk, and they eventually emailed me the receipt. Another reason we’ll stick with Alamo for future rentals whenever prices are reasonably close.

Lol. A little after midnight it’s great. All that construction foorrrrrrr, just more cars to try to merge onto I4. Merging isn’t one of Floridians finest skills. Lol
Having moved to the DC area a few years ago, I see all kinds of crazy things. Sitting at a traffic light today, I saw 2 cars behind me drive on the sidewalk to skip the light and make a right turn! It was about 50-60 feet of sidewalk. I laughed as I beat the second car into the 395 tunnel.

But they like that 4 lane change in 100ft from the left lane to the exit ramp!
