After many months of planning we are just back from our week-long stay at the Poly and it was a wonderful trip...
we picked our DD's ages 5 and 9 up from school on Friday and as it was report card day we went to the playground and looked at their reports cards...we told them that because they were so good that we had a surprise for them...we started to drive while they were trying to guess what the surprise was...ice cream...NO...going to gramma's...NO....
then I gave them their first clue. I had made up some puzzles with words on them...there was a picture and the top of the puzzle piece and they had to write the letter that started that word at the bottom and then put the pieces together to spell a word....we handed these puzzles out every 1/2 hour or so while we drove to the airport. Words such as surprise; vacation; sunshine; sand; hotel....I think they were convinced we were going to Myrtle Beach as our neighbors were headed there for spring break....
we arrived at the airport late after getting lost in Phily!...they didn't even know they were at the airport until the morning when they saw we were boarding an airport shuttle van....uneventful flight on Southwest...still a surprise....landed in Orlando and they recognized the airport from last trip 2 yrs ago, but only knew they were in Florida and still thought we were going to a beach (sand clue)....limo awaiting us was womderful(Fl. Tours)...and they knew it was a surprise so did not say anything!!! Had a movie playing in the limo and the girls actually laid down to wwatch it as they had been up at 4am so they didn't notice the Disney sinage or buses as we drove to the Poly!!!
so we got out of limo and took them into the lobby and as we checked in I said to the desk CM.."I think I have been able to pull something off...could you tell my girls were they are..." CM also confused said the Polynesian? and we said which is where?...she replied ?Florida? more specific...Disneyland?...and the girls went crazy
ran to look around the lobby and kept coming back to hug me while I checked us in....
we requested Tokelau and I asked if there was a way were could get a room towards the end (hoping for a sideways view of the castle)...room not ready yet so we headed of to the MK...as we entered Main St to see the castle fireworks went off as Cinderellabration ended and my 5 yo thought they were part of the surprise too!!! Went back in the evening to find that we were given room 3919 which is at the end and I believe considered a water view room even though we were garden view ...had an amazing view of the castle..just perfect!!! kids took a nap and then found delivered under our door a welcome note and phote from Mickey and Minnie personalized with their names and a short note wishing them a special vacation!!!
I could not have planned a more perfect start for a wonderful week.....
other special things that occured was being guest conductors on the MK railway...got to announce "all aboard" at every stop and ride in the back with the conductor....dinner at Canada Le Celier they were chatting it up with the waitress and traded pins with the manager?...then at dessert the chef, manager, and waitress came out with Chef hats, Jr. Chef coats and all the fixin's to make their own chocolate mouse dessert (on the house) as intructed by the head chef!!!! What a special memory...
we did the Family Magic tour which was the most fun we have ever had at the MK...did it at the end of the week and would highly suggest it to everyone....
the Poly was better than I had even hoped....very clean, wonderful staff, very beautiful at night to watch the fireworks and sit in a hammock....
it was an amazing vacation
