Oh man, there is no way in hell I could go to a funeral for a child let alone an infant. OMG, I am getting choked up just thinking about it. :sad1: I would have to be sedated. Or something. You are going to need some angels lifting you up that day. You all will. :grouphug: Gulp.

624 hours?! Holy crap. That doesn't seem long at all, does it? Ack! I think tonight I'm just going to work on pricing out the menus of what I think we would most likely be eating and then decide if it's best to get the dining plan. Yeah. That's what Ima gonna do!

YES!!!! SHE HAS A PLAN

I know Tuesday will be horrible. Our oldest son (Andy, age 23) lost a friend his freshman year of high school--she was hit by a car and died a day later. I went to that funeral and that was horrible. I think this is going to be even worse than that.

My jammies are Mickey jammies. I lubs muh Mickey. They are also older than dirt. They've got a few blow outs so I need to be careful when I wear them... :rolleyes1 Hubby calls them air vents. :lmao: :rotfl2:

I  my Mickey jammies! The pants are cotton and baggy with Mickey heads all over (the old logo with the red circle.) And I have a red T-shirt to go with it. I think I may dig those out and wear them tonight! ::yes::

Now see. I was debating a ressie at Fulton's. We are from Atlantic Canada. We were born and bred on seafood. I would love to eat there.

Now here is my issue... I was born and bred on NC seafood. Here everything is "Calabash" style... which translates to breaded and deep fried. Gotta have me some lightly breaded, golden fried, butterflied jumbo shrimp! :thumbsup2

And no one in WDW makes it that way. :sad2:

Honestly, you could do it - because you would do it for the parents.

I know it seems worse when it is a baby, but really, it is horrible for any parent when a child dies at any age. Those of us who have had to go through this horror, well...even we say to one another - "oh, it must be even more difficult to lose a baby"..but the parents of a baby will say to those of us whose older children have passed, "I cannot even begin to imagine the pain of losing a child you knew for so many years".

In the simplest terms - it is horrible beyond explanation. But we must get through it and survive to honor our child who has gone before us to heaven.

I was very torn about writing anything...and was going to stay away from the boards for a few days, but we are friends now and felt I could share my heart.

This is very much like New England - nothing is better....and although Calabash is not better than Boston seafood ;), it sure it as good!!!!

Kari, my friend is coming from Boston to visit in August and we are taking an overnight trip to Southport and I told her we must go for seafood in Calabash. I'm allergic so can only eat shrimp, but I LOVE friend shrimp!!! Oh, sooooo good!!!!

Tracy, 25 days!!! :woohoo: :dance3::woohoo:

Hey LuvvsDisney!

Started reading and am interested so in where you ended up reserving your stay but can't wade though 90 pages to find it.

I am hoping that you have the very best most romantic trip ever!!

but we are friends now and felt I could share my heart.

:grouphug: I'm sorry Christine. I know this must be stirring up sad memories at an already difficult time of year for you. Just remember that we love you and will always be here. :grouphug:

I love Southport! There is a Girl Scout camp down there that we visit often. They have a pretty nice aquarium just across the ferry (walking distance) and a beautiful beach area there as well. You can take a ferry to Bald Head Island for (I think) $5 and go up the lighthouse for $3. We have also done a walking tour of Southport through Old South Tour Company, and it was incredible. We had 22 Brownies on that tour, and they were all completely spellbound for 2 full hours listening to the lady telling her stories. We are planning a campiong trip for Oct, and the girls are asking to go back there and take the "Ghost Tour" with her after dark. Anyway... beautiful area and you will love it!

87 pages of this thread are pure nonsense! Tracy decided to go to CSR for 4 nights, and then to Poly for 5. Not what you expected when she originally pickled between CBR, WL, and AKL, was it?! We are now deciding between no DDP, DDP, or deluxe DDP. And we are all considering mailing ourselves to CSR in 25 days, because we all have vacation envy! ;)

Hi Ladies!

Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's baby....so horrible.

I had a busy weekend...pool party and baseball game Fri., another family pool party Saturday for the 4th and then firewoeks from home. Yesterday, I met up with some DIS friends from another thread...It was great to see them, but we had all just heard of the monorail accident as we were leaving our homes, so that was a little sad.

I'm in for the next pickle...which Dining Plan, if any....

Howdy Mama Lo! What? You don't have time to read through 90 pages of insanity?! What's wrong with you! :rotfl2:

Thank you for your sweet sentiments. We, er, I decided to do a split stay with four nights at CSR and five nights at the Poly. I know...totally not what I was considering at all. I do tend to be spontaneous. I just hope that some day I won't combust!! :lmao: :lmao:

So didja wear them? Mine are FLANNEL!! :rotfl2: Mind, after wearing them 5644117 times, they have now reverted to cotton, well, more like cheese cloth. BWAH!

My dad loves deep fried breaded seafood. The only thing that I will eat breaded is shrimp or clams. The rest has to be broiled. With garlic or lemon or baked in a cheese sauce, or ..... I'm freakin' starvin now!!

Thanks Kari! Not the expected choices but good ones! :thumbsup2

Here's my 2 cents about the dining, how about booking the Deluxe for the CSR
portion on the trip and then the regular or none for the rest. I don't have the arrival details but you are hard pressed to eat 3 meals on the arrival day so that will in theory save meals for the last day at CSR/first at Poly. They will be able to combine two credits and have a romantic meal or two, maybe California Grill? They will have the mug so they can use it at the Poly. There will be many snack credits to spend so they could get snacks that would stay in their Poly fridge on check in day that they could use for breakfast/snacks during their stay.

I do have a bit of vacation envy but I can't talk I will be at the Beach Club for 7 nights in 48 days (but who's counting ;))

Hey stranger! That sounds like a fun weekend. I spent mine in my jammies and did nuthin! And I mean NOTHING. Yes, I need to decide on to dine or not to dine plan. Only 24 sleeps left! :scared1: I need to get on this pronto!

I didn't get to wear my Mickey jammies (mysterious stain on the shirt!) so I settled for my favorite WDW t-shirt. It has Disney scenes on the front and back, and TONS of characters. It is a little tight :sad1: but still perfect for sleeping!

Good morning, girls (and welcome Mama Lo to our madness). Hope you all had a restful night in your "mickey" jammies.

I hear ya on the "tight" part, girlfriend. Guess what I just ate?! :rolleyes1

!st - Kari.. I live in NC too. I live in Salisbury.. otherwise known to my family as SMALLSBURY!!!

Okay... I really never knew what resort you decided on either, but I guessed Poly because of your banner. I LOVE Poly and I would love to stay there, but we have never stayed there. We stayed at the Contemporary because it was my DH's dream from childhood to stay there. I think he bought DVC this time simply because they added at the Contemporary! I don't care why he bought it, I am just glad he did.

Now, dining plan....
We just returned (6/21-6/28) from Port Orleans Riverside... there are 5 of us! We did the quick service plan and ended up missing the regular plan. The kids didn't want to be tied down to a reservation, but they got tired of counter service after a few days. It was crowded and trying to get thru the lines and all the people stressed out my oldest DD. She has an anxiety disorder and is on meds, but most times, she got the table and I ordered for her.
We are going back in early Sept (59 days)!!! But I digress :) :) :)

We are doing the regular dining plan, but NOT going to the parks. We will be eating at some of our favorites though. They are at the resorts.

Boma - AKL
O'hana - Poly... LOVE THIS
Supercalifragilistic B'fast- gotta see Alice for the littlest dd
Whispering Canyon - WL

So, I vote Dining Plan for you.:thumbsup2
Look, it is a green pickle thumbs up :)

Good morning, girls (and welcome Mama Lo to our madness). Hope you all had a restful night in your "mickey" jammies.

Marnin'. I was still up at 4am. I need some toothpicks over here! It's 59 degrees, I kid you not. I've got muh pink mickey bottoms on and muh grey mickey sweatshirt. Yeah, I said it. SWEATSHIRT! On July 6. :scared1:

I'll be wearing a wool sweater tomorrow for the funeral--it's only going to be 65 here. I think someone forgot that this is July and it is supposed to be in at least the 80's.

I need a "do nothing" weekend...we have had some fun weekends, and have a few more in the next couple of weeks, but man, I'm worn out!!! I have so much that needs to get done around the house too, but I'm just too darn tired to do much otther than work and the kids stuff.
I hear ya on the "tight" part, girlfriend. Guess what I just ate?! :rolleyes1
What???
I'm hungry...can ya tell?

It's warm here, but I get cold with the AC on. I'm wearing a Mickey Sweatshirt too!

This weather has been crazy. It's warm here finally, but I was wondering if we would ever see summer there for a while.

Now Salisbury is a place I haven't heard of and I know NC very well. We live close to a village called Salisbury and you need to be careful because if you blink when you drive by, you might miss it! ;)

As a child, riding through the Contemporary was absolutely magical for me. I always dreamed of staying there some day. My folks always stayed off site and my first stay on resort was actually this past March. As I am older, the theme of the Contemporary doesn't appeal to me as much. I am all about the grounds and landscaping now. Palm trees!! :yay: I love to walk and daydream in the early dawn and take in the scenery. Ahhhh. I cannot wait!

I'm definitely not getting quick service plan. It's the regular and deluxe dining plan that I am trying to figure out. I get anxious just thinking about it too. Procrastination has been my best friend lately. Sigh.

Guess what I just ate?! :rolleyes1

Same thing I'm eating for lunch?! (Grilled cheese sammich with onions!)

We are doing the regular dining plan, but NOT going to the parks.

Christine (Minnie&Nana) is from Greensboro. Small world!

No offense... but how in the world can people stand to go to WDW, and not go into the parks???? :scared1: I did it in Oct, but we went to Sea World, and had our cruise to look forward to. I think I would be depressed to be that close to MK for days, and not go into the park.

I think someone forgot that this is July and it is supposed to be in at least the 80's.

It was a high of 85 for our picnic the other day. Which was wonderful, BTW! Normally by this time it is upper 90s and high humidity. Supposed to be 84 today with storms, but is only 73 right now.

Yeah, it's supposed to be 81 here today, then 71 and 75 and then back up to 85 and 88. It has been a topsy-turvy weather scene for I don't know how long.

Just talked to youngest son, Mark. He went back to school yesterday (he goes to University of Dubuque) for work this morning. He talked to work and they gave him tomorrow and Wednesday if he needs it off and he is driving back for the funeral. On the way, he is stopping in Galena, IL, and having the baby's name and birthdate inked in on his current tattoo.
